WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

An easy enough wordle-some words are on repeat. Word 4 could have gone 2 ways (anagram) but I went on past results.

The score isn't great but that's because I took a guess at word 2 on my 3rd turn and got it wrong. All the same, it immediately helped with word 5 so can't complain!

I started with LOUSY today. The bot quite liked that, but oh, the disapproval in his voice as he looked at my 2nd row eliminator! I imagine him twitching fussily at his tartan bow-tie  and pince-nez as he hands down his edict.

At any rate, my 2nd was BRINE and it was good enough to give me only two word possibilities remaining. If I’d guessed wrongly, the bot would be dancing on my grave, I suppose… but I didn’t. I guessed correctly. Ha!

I was pleased with this.

I used TRACE as my starter - and it didn’t give me a nice glow of satisfaction. In fact, my heart sank below the waterline and I thought I’d made the wrong choice. I decided to play BOUND as my 2nd guess (eliminator) and that immediately lifted things up. I could go on to guess 2R … Springyzone, is that the word where you went on past results? I also considered Octordle’s history with that combination!

All in all, things moved very nicely from guess 3 onwards.

The bot graciously conceded that my eliminator was an excellent one, and that he’d have needed an extra turn to guess in 4.

I took 10 tries to solve these (which for me is good) butt I think the score of 52 is more because I started solving on my second turn. Alien gave me enough to make a stab at word 7. I knew it could be plain or slain but this time I made the lucky choice.
