I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

This is another one where the lower score surprised me. It started okay with one word leading to the next but I made a mistake on #2 towards the end.
SpoilerI only had E & R and tried error. After that, I knew it had to be gorge.
Although I solved #8 last, I had fancied marry since quite early on in the piece but held off as it could possibly, at that stage, have been parry or even karma. So I used an eliminator before I made a guess-skimp.Sorry to hear you're still not well. You probably need a day or so of just taking it easy.
My daughters and families just got back from a cruise to NZ last weekend and just about all of them are or were ill. One tested positive to covid and although all the others have tested neg, I'd be sure that is what they had.
Most worried about one grandson who has only eaten a few icypoles and half a subway in nearly a week. Well, quarter of a subway as he was given half of one and ate half of that. Hopefully at least on the mend.
How is your mother doing?
I hope your family members get better soon, and especially the poor grandson.
This has been quite a whammy of not feeling well, and because it’s sone sort of virus (not COVID, not flu), I’ve not been able to visit mum for the last week. However, I’ve been speaking over the phone with the hospital staff and they’re thinking of a release date possibly next week! They’ll hold back if I’m still infectious, obviously, but it is such good news.
This wretched knee - I’ve twisted it sideways or something. I can’t straighten it properly now but it does bend. Sideways pop if I move the wrong way. That’s fun - not.

I got lucky. After turn 2, the answer was the only word I could think of, offhand.

Now although it is under 60 (my personal benchmark😂) I am kicking myself over this one as I think more strategic playing could have lowered the score slightly.

Oops, I have just noticed that was the extreme.

My eliminator was decent enough, but solving this Wordle with my next guess was roughly a 1 in 20 piece of luck.

With only an L and an I (both yellow) uncovered, this was not looking good. All of the _illy patterns, or _ il_y, or s_ill words, just for starters…

This one, I got very lucky with.
After my first 2 turns, I didn't really have an instant clue about any of them, but we know solving something at turn 3 is pretty crucial to a half way decent result, especially if a mistake is going to be made further down (which is my usual form).
I so wanted to try another eliminator for turn 3, but oh the shame, especially as I had 4 letters exposed in #2.
How hard can it be, I thought.
So I forced myself to sit there for a while till inspiration came, because I knew I would have to front up here and show results. 🤣
After that, the position of the greens basically gave me most of the other answers.
I got through the extreme version but score wasn't as good, was 63.
