WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

It was likely that the solution (after my first eliminator) would be _ O _ E R, but that of course meant there was a bevy of possible answers. I didn’t fancy blindly guessing… so I grit my teeth and played another eliminator.

It could still have been BOWER… but 50/50 gave me decent odds.

* I’d held off 3L, hoping to get an L or an E in 4th position with another one of the words… because obviously 4L was either KNEEL or KNELL. If I could leave it until last, that would also mean I’d not have as bad an effect on the points if I guessed wrongly. As it was, by playing “offer” for 3R, I achieved the desired ruling out of E in that position, and that meant “knell”.

I missed posting yesterday, was off at the crack of dawn (6.20am, so technically slightly later, but..) for child minding & not home till 6pm. Oh boy, these days tire me.

I did do wordle yesterday on my phone. I think it took 5, from memory. Not octordle, I loathe the scrolling needed, can't be bothered.

I was shocked how low the score ended up being! 

As it was, I was able to guess a word on turn 2. But I could not see my way clear after that & used an eliminator on turn 3. Not quite my usual one. South. I wanted to give the O a chance in a different position.

Then I made a mistake on #1, jetty or petty. I was inclined to go petty but then decided jetty might be more likely, so changed!

Extreme, got 57. Made a couple of mistakes. #6, story instead of stood and #5 at the very end, tossing up between glade and blade & jumped the wrong way.
