WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I had a bit of a similar experience this morning. Not quite as useful a hunch as you had, a few steps behind, but on the right track at least.

Straight after my first turn, I immediately wanted to go for woven.

My little fingers were just itching to type it in, as I had a feeling the second letter would be O.

But I held back and thought, have to be more logical, it could just as well be something like sheen or green or queen or seven or token etc. And W & V wouldn't narrow things a lot.

So in the end, I went for my usual 'shout'.

After which I thought, I have had enough, going for what I fancied in the first place. It wasn't it but it ptobably would have been more helpful than shout, as it turns out.

By turn 6, I felt I needed to narrow things down so used fudgy.
Probably just as well i did, as I had #3 tagged as most likely plaid and I thought #7 bling or fling, but I was edging more towards bling. This is why i can't trust my hunches too much.😂

I did wonder about flail but they have used flair before.

The surprise for me was #5, but by that stage, I couldn't see what else it could be.

#4 was a risk, I was worried about gamer or gazer.

#7 was my main risk. rogue or vogue. R is usually more useful to expose.
I had been thinking local or vocal for #8 and so a V could have been in play, but then I solved #5 chute and once the C was ruled out, I realised I was on the wrong track with #8.

Gritting my teeth with this one as I was going along okay, till I wasn't.😑

Fell half way through with needy instead of nerdy for #2.
Straight afterwards I thought, it is always nerdy.
In fact, many of today's words felt recycled, especially beefy.
I was pondering what it could be with my left over letters and as soon as I saw B & F, I thought of course.

At least I had no trouble choosing for #6, which I assume in USA could be fecal or decal, they never go for unsavoury words.😂

I was pleased with this as I got towards the end and I was ready to use another eliminator.

I was stuck on #4 chive or chide, #8 strap or straw & I had #3 naval in mind. So instead of an eliminator (vaped)  I played naval as it would help solve #4 for me.

I was still stuck on #8 but I was no worse off and had a 50/50 chance, which came through today!
