There's a bit of a story behind this coffee table.
Some years back my partner ran away from home. He left taking only his truck and some clothes.
He moved in to a tiny, mostly furnished hut. His ex was a bit narky and the seperation was not amicable. In the lead up to the court settlement his eldest daughter paid him a visit and stayed for a few days.
When it came time to squabble over assets and who should get what in the settlement his ex produced a list of his current assets, which was everything in his hut. Dear daughter and taken inventory and reported back to Mum. Now pretty much everything (and there's not much you can fit in a 20 x12 ft hut) belonged to the hut with the exception of a kitchen table and little gas cooker from his mum, and this coffee table, also from his mum. We laughed our heads off when this coffe table was listed as an asset !!
So we have decided to leave it to dear daughter in his will. She was obviously quite taken with it.
It's not in quite as good as condition as it was back then as it's had two feet of flood water go over it. And I had to drag the top out from under the house where it ended up.
We've got a bit more posh since the 1950's shabby chic tv stand and tiled top coffee table.
This is the upgrade model.
(the other two items of furniture were also itemised on DD's asset list. They don't belong to us.)
