I wonder, is it different if your dad is a policeman?
Ms Bishop has done a good job here. I wonder why the parents of other drug traffickers, who said it wasn't their drugs, didn't get the same help?

Why did Bishop get involved. Probably because the evidence said so and the Chinese agreed.
Unlike say Corby where the innuendo and AFP briefings would have said otherwise, hence the lukewarm response.
The AFP in China were involved in the movements and tracking of this pair and assisted with information which helped with the capture of these 2.

AFP were involved with other Asian cases also.

Innuendo?? has no place as evidence................ and what AFP briefings?
Corby had drugs in her luggage, Davis had drugs in her luggage. Both claim to be innocent. You do the comparison.

"Take your pick...................... or try google. I think there is a huge difference between this incident and others...................
Peter Greste for example"
The Gov't has been involved in the Peter Greste case, but that is totally different to a drugs case and very political.
You do that type of job, you need to be able to read the wind of the Gov't and Egypt was very volatile.
The last thing he needs is a lot of publicity.

This girl hadn't been charged with anything.. it could have gone either way...released or charged.

You don't think the AFP don't tip off overseas countries with briefings on who, what, where and when ?????
We have permanent AFP prescence in these countries.

The 22 year old woman (Kalynda) went to China for a 3 day trip?????
After meeting a guy 5 days before????
The limited media coverage and story is very similar to that of the "Antz Pantz" model who was arrested/rescued/released years ago from Bali.
Michelle Leslie.
I imagine there would be a "scale of assistance" offered by DFAT and/or legal representatives dependent upon funds available.
For her to be released now, appears to indicate that Kalynda was innocent and funds were available to realize that sooner than later.

That has little to do with the situation, if they can bring home a person who has been implicated, in a foreign country, of drug smuggling, surely they must do the same for all Au citizens?
