Why are there so many idiotic people around? What evolutionary advantage do they bring out?

A comment which leads me to suspect that lateral thinking is a product of intelligence, not eductaion.

What makes you think Greta Thunberg is poorly educated?

I have known many, many people whom I would regard as intelligent, highly educated, but way behind in people and social skills. While they are very successful academically, and perhaps in their work, they fail as persons because they are egocentric and don't give a damn about others. What this type fails to realize, or doesn't care about, is that they come across as pseudo intellectual w*nkers and are looked down on, rather than looked up at. I find it a shame because they potentially have so much to offer, if only they could stop being so asocial.
I can honestly say that I have only worked with one person who was a success as a professional and a success as a person. And ironically, he was the person I most enjoyed a beer with!

I must have have missed this thread, good bump
Interesting topic
I don't think our species has changed much at all, In primal days kids were taught how to survive from their parents or thier tribal group because it had to be learned
if the kid found themselves lost without any training their chance or survival are slim, does that make them dumb? no because we all have the ability to "learn"

The dumb, however, would have not had the ability to learn, thus making them dead. Darwin is proven right.
As opposed to the current situation where they are nurtured, rather than killed off by their inability to learn.

Greta Thunberg missed a lot of her schooling to pursue her climate change activism.

OK some folks are born mentally challenged, we can push this group aside here
And discauss perfectly healthy humans
I disagree, normal folks who are considered dumb is probably because they were unfortunate not to be put in a position to learn, doesn't mean they're incapable of learning

Is it a society flaw where not all folks get the training or education?
Personally i came from a dysfunctional family, my start in life was left to be desired
But deep down i knew i wasn't dumb (some folks may think otherwise )
It wasn't untill i was forced to do rehab and a meditation camp that I smartened up

Which has nothing to do with the subject.
The subject is why dumb people are still around, which definitely includes the mentally challanged. Thus a group that is front and centre. I can understand you not wanting to include those that the discussion pertains to. After all it makes your position marginally tenable.
Not whether 'dumb' people are considered dumb, by any of many criteria.
Like an IQ of less than 85.
Why do they still happen? Because that's genetics, which modern medicine has generally obviated.

She took a year off and is now back in school again. Since she is still only 17years old, that doesn't make her poorly educated it simply means she has not yet completed her education.
