@boris1gary wrote:i have an old noritake dinner set that was my nans. mum had it before me and managed (on purpose) to break some of it, think it was a 12 setting, platter, gravy thing etc. i only use it at xmas because of the gold bits it can't go in the dishwasher.
We have a Noritake dinner set from the 60's. My OH spent a lot of money on it att as a wedding gift for his brother. It went through a house fire and was dumped in their back shed. Not even cleaned, so I guess they didn't value it. My MIL took it home, cleaned it up and put it away. My FIL gave it back to us last year. There are a couple of bits missing, so I have been gradually finding them and completing the set. Last couple of bits were in an op shop and were 1.50 for cup and saucer

how did you go with cleaning the silver tende??
the aluminium foil is a really important part, and the silver needs to be touching it, also the water needs to boiling hot, so I boil water in the kettle to pour over.
you should be able to see it working straight away.

thanks for the laugh Tende! that is certainly an impressive collection! I don't suppose he has a yamaha xj 750, or an australian mack superliner in there somewhere?

Lol Boris, that's a mix Mr Boris collects.
Katy, Fender (the cat) was a naughty boy a while ago (according to Mr Tende), he peed on a couple of the boxes (good kitty).. so he's been banned from the "man cave", probably testing me to see if he had time to have another go..
Debra, I'm really pleased with it.
Before
After
I've still got more to do and yes, I'm boiling the water.
Couple of goes and they'll look like new.
Thanks for the hint.

they won't retarnish for ages either, which is a bit of an extra bonus

It's brilliant Deb, all I have to do now is find somewhere on/in the sideboard to display them and the rest when I finish.
