What does faster broadband mean?

Isn't it a bit misleading when Tony Abbott says the coalition will deliver faster broadband than Labor?

Shouldn't he be pulled up on it?

Re: What does faster broadband mean?

Ask freaki what the distance between the repeater stations will have to be for the NBN.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Re: What does faster broadband mean?

It might be appropriate at this stage if we can get some concensus on one of the the basics in the operation of the interweb.

I will make a statement of FACT.

Everyone please feel free to dispute my statement. 🙂

Internet data transfer flow speed is limited to the data flow speed in the slowest link from source to destination.

Re: What does faster broadband mean?

John, he said "much much faster broadband, much more quickly and much more affordably"

have a listen.

Yep, loud and clear, was Malcolm cringing?

Malcolm is getting a lot of negative publicity, many don't believe that he believes what he is saying?

Wont there be a lot of complaints if the Libs win and some have to pay when others got it under labor for free? Or am I missing something in the policy.

Yes Hawk .. political twisted words .. when you think you hear one thing but they

actually say another !!

That doesn't only happen in politics, but in just about everything where people want to hear what they want to hear rather than what is actually being said.

The Ebay message boards are a prime example of such things.

Why?

It is meaningless to this conversation. You are just hijacking the debate because of your hatred for Labor. Grow up!

100% correct...

In my rural little area I have on average 18Mbps

copper wires, flooding rain and now even tornados...

no matter what my son still finds it frustrating that he lags when playing some games... it is not our connection that is poor...it is the servers at the other end. You can give us 100Mbps and it still won't improve his gaming...

And to download his 20 gig games... they won't download faster... it is limited by Steam.. .the service he downloads from... they set the download speed so make it fair to the thousands of other people that also want to download their games...

Re: What does faster broadband mean?

I don't think it will make an awful lot of difference what top speeds may/may not be achieved with any NBN because it will just come down to how much each person is willing to spend on their own internet needs that will determine the speed they receive, much as it does right now.
