I've missed out on heaps of good stuff with my Ute being broken.
Really nice suede leather lounge the other day without a mark on it and all cushions present and an old chest of drawers in excellent condition
Yeah there is some really great "stuff" around atm Martin, our best "find" was the Art Deco dining set, will come up a treat when it 's finished. I have had some good finds at The Green Shed lately, its amazing what people 'round here chuck out

Well I didn't find anything but a lovely story of giving to share.
My son has been helping out taking aid up the coast of NSW
to distribute to those affected by the fires.
On his way back he called into Port Macquarie and collected a
refrigerator a women had for free collection. He returned with that
fridge and delivered it to a family locally who lost their home in the
fires.

My lad has " borrowed " my spare, run about ute permenantly and finds all sorts of feebie treasures on the side of the road. Some of his recent finds include a Lounge suite, near new mountain bike ( just needed tyre repair ) a metre high quater pipe ( ramp for skate boarding ) a ute load of succulant plants in pots, TV unit, Miele vacuum cleaner in excellent condition, with spare bags and a nice shed cupboard.
Awhile ago, I picked up an electric guitar and amplifier as a freebie off the side of the road. It was missing a couple of strings, but as ex muso,s we have plenty of old, used ones laying around the house. After replacing two strings, I sold it at Cashies for $80.
You never know what you will find on the side of the road and with Christmas holidays coming up, it should be an interesting few weeks. ( if I can just get my ute back )

Wow, your side of the road stuff sounds a lot more upmarket than around our area. Old mattresses and stoves and broken toys and furniture, that's the bulk of what we ever see.

Very little gets dumped around here, peeps tend use the local fb sites to either sell or give away their items. I guess it keeps the local areas much cleaner and tidied than have junk dumped elsewhere. The is also a great tip shop in Hamilton, very low prices and some real bargains to be found there at times.
We have had heaps of great items given to us over the yrs and have given heaps away ourselves .... Swings and roundabouts, I guess, seems to work well

We have a very mixed community ranging from many genuine homeless people and unemployed through to wealthy, retired professionals and public servants in the area. People ( retirees in particular ) tend to just give stuff away on the side of the road rather than bother to try to sell it for a few dollars or get some-one in to pick it up. Its almost become a bit of a cultural thing now. A nice little example of a positive, caring community attitude developing. A little bit of philanthropy.
