In hell, you're not forced to love this particular God and praise and bow down to her and suck up to her for all eternity? And you won't be sent back to Earth to be tortured and killed to forgive her mistakes?
You'll be in the company of Rodney Dangerfield, John Lennon, Mother Teresa, Raefael Nadal, Angelina Jolie, Mark Twain, Brad PItt etc drinking and eating anything you like and partying like it's 1999.
Would you want to go to hell?

And Jesus taught us to "Love one another as I have loved you". Not based on colour, creed, or otherwise.
Are you really for real? We have known to love one another for thousands of years before Jesus' time. This concept isn't new. We knew murder was wrong, we knew to treat each other how we like to be treated. That's one of the reason our species and many other are still here. This is not something that has to be taught.
Animals have morals just as humans do. Jesus didn't have to teach them that did he?

I don't think DDB is going to go to heaven after this morning.
Well, anger is a sin, yet Jesus got angry many times so I think Daydream will be fine.
Jesus even got angry at a fig tree for not producing any fruit. He put a curse over it and it died:(

yeah but this is one of Bob's hypotheticals.......what if?......what if this thing called "hell" was a good place? he described "heaven" contrary to what it is believed to be.....I try not to waste too much time on "what ifs"
Why do you say contray to what is believed? What did I say that is not deducted from mainstream belief?
I can only judge the bible God based on his character and actions.
It's been reported the bible God have murdered about 25 million people. How many has Satan killed? Who in their right mind will send their own son to be tortured and killed for a mistake he caused to make himself feel better.
What did Satan do that's so bad? He convinced Eve to eat an apple. Woopee do. Sounds like a fun guy to me. Why did the bible God create people and expect them to be perfect? If your child is naughty you don't send them to the gas chamber. Don't have kids if you expect them to be perfect.
Would you want to be in Heaven with someone for all eternity as based on his action and character? Let me use someone similar. Would you like to be in Heaven with Kim Jong Il.

The primary scriptural basis for the doctrine of purgatory is found in 2 Maccabees, an intertestamental book that is not included in the Protestant Bible, but is included in the Catholic one:
2 Maccabees 12:46-
It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins.
1 Corinthians 3:13-15-
Every man's work shall be manifest; for the day of the Lord shall declare it, because it shall be revealed in fire; and the fire shall try every man's work, of what sort it is. If any man's work abide, which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work burn, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire.
Catholics infer purgatory from this passage, though IMO that's quite a stretch.
Catholics also infer prayers for the dead from the following passage:
2 Timothy 1:16-18-
"May the Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain, but when he was in Rome, he sought me diligently, and found me (the Lord grant to him to find the Lord's mercy on that day); and in how many things he served at Ephesus, you know very well."
The problem here is that Catholics assume Onesiphorus was dead, and Paul was praying for him to find mercy on "that day" (the day of judgement). The problem here is that the passage does not actually say he was dead, though some scholars think this is inferred. Even if he was dead, I don't think Paul was praying for his soul here. It's more like someone in our day, after a loved one dies, saying "may he rest in peace" or something to that effect. Again, I think it's a stretch to find praying for the dead in this verse.
Considering how evolved and complex this doctrine eventually became, it stands on very shaky grounds in terms of the Bible. ONE verse (the Maccabees one) supports it overtly, and even that one verse is contained in a book that is of questionable authority. All other verses are just inferences.
Having said that, it is well documented that many Christian sects as early as the second century prayed for the dead.

Frankly I'm sick of your Christian hate threads.
So you have no faith, no moral compass, go peddle it somewhere else, go peddle it someone who gives a **** instead of insulting the many who have a faith, it's tiresome & your hollow beliefs are showing.
THis type of post is offensive, just think if there was a post denigrating gays, people of colour, or any other persons beliefs. Your bigotry is on show.

His? You're not keeping up with yourself again, Bob ;\
As for the rest of what you're saying, I'm the religious one, shouldn't I be doing all the preaching ?:|

OK, here's another question -
The ability to bear children surely has to be one of the greatest things any person can do - and God made it so that it was the female who had this capability. To me, this kinda signifies that it is woman who God intended to be the "powerful" one (I know this is coming out wrong, but I hope you can work out what I mean) - For example - God trusted the growth and birth of His only child to a woman.
So why is it that when MAN wrote/correlated the Bible - (and I mean man in the masculine sense - not the generic human sense - as it was the male of the species who dominated that era and held the power and had the education etc) that He recorded that woman was created from man - ie - a rib was taken from Adam - inferring that it is the masculine of the species which is superior?
My take on it all - MAN manipulated God's true intent with the aim of diminishing women and empowering themselves - something that is only now being corrected.
and BOB - seriously? ya really take Genesis literally? It's full of metaphors in a vain attempt for men to establish themselves as the superior being.

Why the anger? I sense there's some struggles in your life. How can I help you?
What do you mean when you say I have no moral compass??
How is these types of threads offensive? How is it bigotted?

Actually I use he/she interchangeably. By definition and I'm sure you'll agree with me that God does not have a gender. I'm being respectful by not using "it"
How am I preaching? Do you consider asking questions and discussing preaching?
on 19-02-2013 01:54 PM
you keep on presenting your take on the holy books without anyone actually asking....yep, preaching.
