A CATHOLIC priest has reportedly told a primary school mass in Melbourne’s west Jill Meagher would not have been murdered if she had not been out so late.
Jill Meagher was raped and murdered while walking home after leaving a Brunswick pub at about 1.30am in September, 2012. According to reports, the priest made the comments to staff and students on Friday morning at St Christopher’s Primary School in Airport West while holding up Bayley’s picture in Friday’s newspaper and talking about murder and rape.
NOW.

my immediate response is not in relation to the OP except if the judges had done a better job the #10 wouldnt have been out of jail that day!!!
my immediate immediate response is that there is another #10 right on this thread that really needs to learn a few things before posting utter **bleep** and getting everyones backs up. And if what she has been saying all this time is true she is the absolute last person to make light of this. Far out!@!!!!!!!!!

My response is to stick to your role. It has never been your job to make excuses for rapists, or to inform anyone that women should be at home after dark.
Saw him on the news making excuses for what he said.
As to the #10. Yes.

chuk - except if the judges had done a better job
To be fair the judges can only follow the law. The law re bail applications need changing and some have been changed recently in some states (e.g. NSW after the Sydney siege).

Personally I think it is all a load of attention seeking BS...

What that stupid idiot of a Priest did not mention was that Masa Vukotic was walking home from School in daylight.
How does his moralising compare with the death of this young girl?

Masa Vukotic was on her daily run and was murdered at 7pm (still daylight though)

"And yes, people get murdered/raped in broad daylight, but walking alone in deserted dark lane in middle of the night is definitely not something I would recommend anybody to do. Male or female, young or old."
She wasn't walking in a laneway though, her killer confronted her on Sydney Road and dragged her into a deserted laneway.
I was not actually talking about Jill, I was replying to whoever said that it is just as dangerous in daytime. It is not equal, it is much more likely to get raped/killed at night. But if we are talking about Jill, there might have been some people around, but I would not call Sydney Road a busy night strip; it certainly was not the last time I was in that part of town, in fact it was rather desolate. The security cameras do not show people being around, or too many cars going past.

Nothing to do with "the judges". Everything to do with the parole board.
