What is your least favourite cuisine?

For me it is Asian (and not just dimsims made from cats, LOL). What food makes you sick?

Re: What is your least favourite cuisine?

Red things. I know, it's crazy, but I just don't like red foods. Tomatoes, beetroot, red berries, don't like any of it. Red capsicum is (almost) okay. Orange is do-able and I don't mind red skins on apples, plums etc

I tried very hard to not pass it on to my kids but one of them is exactly the same and didn't know I was until quite recently so it's not simply fussiness. It's a genuine dislike.

I went to a party last night where they had spam sushi, and, yes, it looked as disgusting as it sounds.

Yep, Scottish cuisine would be my third least favourite behind Asian and Italian.

Scottish cuisine ? ? ? Apart from Haggis, Taties (Potatoes) and Neeps (Turnips), and deep fried Mars Bars, they don't have an indigenous cuisine.

Anything containing garlic would be my emetic....*bleurgh*

I cannot eat garlic. At all. I tried many times. Cannot stand the taste, the aroma, the texture.

People have tried to suggest ways of cooking it, but it is not just the bitterness if not cooked properly.

It is not that limiting; going out, I ask if I think there might be garlic, if it is a dish that's prepared fresh it is fine, they can leave it out.

My friends know I hate it. Even if garlic has been waved over the dish, arrrrrrggggh ๐Ÿ˜ž

(That is actually true...garlic smells in a kitchen is enough)

In every cookery programme on TV, they seem to throw garlic into everything they make. Won't be long until some nut like Jamie Oliver or Heston Blumenthall includes it in a pudding. It's practically impossible to find a 'Ready Meal' in a supermarket that hasn't got garlic in the list of ingredients. They must assume that everyone likes the stuff.

And only today I was talking to an acquaintance who'd been eating something laced with garlic. It took me all my time not to throw up in his face, the stench from his breath was stomach churning.

EMB ... The Scots do have their own unique cuisine and the best place to find it is in their older cookbooks.  I have two here.   There is much to like and the names they give some recipes are quite funny and nice.

Yes...garlic is not a pleasing fragrance on others.

Re: What is your least favourite cuisine?

I had another thought ... bad Mexican food. That covers just about every place in Australia where I've eaten Mexican food ... and some in the US.

We stayed in Albuquerque, New Mexico for a while and ate out at a few Mexican restaurants. One (that we went to ONCE) was awful. They served dry toast made from sliced white bread on our meals.

Another we went to three times, we liked it so much ...

It can be stodgy ... very stodgy ... it can sit on your stomach for hours ... but, if you find the right restaurant and choose the right dishes, it can be absolutely delicious.
