What sort of bank doesnt have 24 hour support in this day and age?

Just a little rant......logged on to my dad's bank account to pay a bill and discovered there were 2 identical withdrawals today, $183 each.

My dad has alzheimers and generally cant use his card, but I know he was out with the aged care people today so somewhere along the line he has bought something, god only knows what at that price, he had money for his lunch.....

Its too late to ring him or the aged care facility, none of the evening staff will know anything about it, so I thought I'd check with the bank where it was spent......nope, phone lines close at 7 Woman Frustrated

Seriously! What kind of bank doesnt have 24hr phone support, mine does. He's with NAB and they ony have 24 hours for lost or stolen cards......now I have to wait till tomorrow to figure out what's going on Woman Frustrated

Punch drunk siad: I suspect the double transaction is just a glitch, but they were only going out for lunch (in fact maybe only morning tea) no idea what he spent so much money on unless they let him shout everyone.

I'm thinking thats the post maybe Boots was referring too?

Wow, turing that into an accustaion of workers taking dads money is a bit of a stretch Smiley Surprised

Knowing the residents were going out for morning tea and that my dad is a generous person it wouldnt have surprised me if he offered to pay for everyone, its the kind of thing he'd do. In light of my inability to contact the bank, guessing what had happened was all I could do.

Just goes to prove it doesnt matter what you say on here, some people are hell bent on taking it the wrong way Smiley Frustrated

Yes, exactly, my FIL offers people money, he worries about who is paying for lunch in his nursing home some days and I have to tell him it's all taken care of and he has plenty of money.

Later he remembers that and asks someone, another resident, a visitor, staff............... do they need some money.

(There are  certain family members who would probably say yes.)
