What will you do with your $750?

about a month ago i bought a small split system air conditioner from 'Kogan' (an online shoping site)

normally not an item i would buy as the size if bought locally would be about $700 for just the unit

but kogan had an end of summer sale unit at $430.

then they had a free delivery sale too on the airconditioner

then they sent me a 'get $20 off' promotion

bringing the price down to $410 delivered.

so i got one.

i have been planning to save up to have it installed in a few months.

i will now spend the $750 on the install

Exactly. It's much the same as the GFC back in 2008 when Rudd gave everyone $900. Mudh of it was spent on electrical goods and gadgets made overseas. Harvey Norman made a Motza!

Ring any bells?

I didn't get any of that $900.

It went to workers.

Pensioners and the hard up were given nothing.

  • A $900 bonus will be paid to taxpayers with taxable income up to and including $80,000.
  • A $600 bonus will be paid to taxpayers with income exceeding $80,000 to $90,000.
  • A $250 bonus will be paid to taxpayers with income exceeding $90,000 to and including $100,000.

Ok. Point taken. Still the same principle though. Will pensioners spend the "gift" on medicals (seeing it's the aged and respitory-challenged that are mostly in danger of the virus), or will they spend it on non-essential items?

Pensioners received a $1400 one off payment from Rudd

This appears to be true for singles, and $2100 for couples.

I had to google cos we got nothing.

We were neither pensioners, nor workers.

Hubby was out of work at that time.

Guess he was considered 'a dole bludger'

Love this ' gift ' carp.

Most pensioners have spent 50 + years of their life paying taxes.

What - exactly do you call essential items.

Most cope with their bills - their meds - their day to day living - their utilities.

Perhaps not so much left over for that well earned weekend break - that extra luxury of perhaps a tv rather than a radio - yes - some still only listen - forget the overseas holiday.

I'd invite them to spend it anyway they dammm well pleased.

Kogan - apparently manufacture those they call Australian Made - tvs etc.

But I can only guess where the parts come from.

Well, I imagine China would appreciate trading support at this time
