Its become a nightmare out there with those "mongrels" being sold for 2 grand and more and no guarantee

that it will be a suitable dog,(but there's aways someone out there that'll splash out the cash for one)shok.gif

His name is Houdini as he used to be an escape artist,(he's got no hope of escaping now).

I've never been a fan of any "pedigree" dog as they all had to be a mixture of something else to start with.

Someone saw a market for them, the same as the current designer dogs who are no more entitled to that

tag than our dog has,(but now when people ask what breed he is I can say he's a Sperrier and explain

that he's a cross breed),good.gif

Our other dog is a Staffy,(our daughter couldn't take her when she moved).good.gif

The "pure" breeds we've had are,Jack Russell,Doberman,Blue heeler,(who was a bit over the top) and the

Staffy and they've all been good dogs,(they were all giveaways).

The rest have all been mixed breeds with the oldest passing at 21 years of age.

Tazz, as bushie said - each to their own.  We've had pure breeds most of our 49 years of marriage and have a pure bred King Charles Cavalier Spaniel at the moment.  We just bought a cavalier spaniel/tibetan spaniel cross to get rid of some cav problems.  We have had labs which I love but are too big now we are in a unit.  We then had pembroke corgis for many years and bred them for a while.  We had one mixed breed bichon frieze/shi tzu but we lost him before Christmas.

I was brought up with mixed breeds though.  In the 50's, there weren't that many pure breeds around (or maybe they were too expensive) and we had some great dogs when I was growing up.  I love any dog - some I wouldn't have .... but I still love them Smiley Very Happy.

Sandy is right, we all have certain breeds we prefer to own    .... I own GSD's, would never buy a x bred one, too many probs re temperament    ...... I also prefer to own either large breed or working  dogs
