What would you do? Bikers vs SUV

http://edition.cnn.com/2013/09/30/us/new-york-bikers-road-rage-video/

The New York City Police Department said a man driving a Range Rover with his wife and 2-year-old daughter inside Sunday struck a motorcyclist on Manhattan's West Side Highway, breaking his leg.

The SUV driver pulled over, and the bikers surrounded his vehicle, hitting it and spiking the tires, police said. The driver pulled away, hitting three more bikers in the process, police said.

Should the driver in the SUV be charged?

What do you think of bikers?

What would you have done if you were the driver in the SUV?

This is an interesting take on the law.

It was on youtube, I can't find it

2 guys try to rob a convienience store in US. THe store owner acted in self defence and ended killing one of the robbers.

The law works that the other robber was charged with murder instead of the store owner.

So applying the same rule. THen the bikers who instigated the whole thing and provoked should also be charge for the injuries caused to the coma guy and the broken leg guy.

is that because of the firecracker case? Scott v Shepherd

It was held in that case that the defendant's act had initiated an unbroken series of events in which each person acted out necessity for their own safety. The contact with the plaintiff was therefore the direct result of the defendant's conduct and an action in Trespass arose.

Re: What would you do? Bikers vs SUV

I don't have a problem with a person who rides a bike, my own husband does, but I don't like the gang thing, they are intimidatory, and that's exactly what they want to be.

I don't know about other states, but here in Vic there 's a big crack down going on over bike gangs here . New laws about their fortified homes and gang club rooms. It is a well known fact here that they're heavily involved in drug manufacture as well as distribution , not to mention being behind a number of shootings.

What "propaganda campaign's"?

Are you calling the nightly news, where we see their appalling behaviour practically daily, propaganda? Lol

It's the only thing I like about the current Queensland government, their tightening of laws related to bikie behaviour and association. Lets hope it shuts them down and takes away their ability to practice thuggery.

Haha I agree, Deb's hubby isn't a thug bikie. Actually people who ride bikes aren't thugs...just the ones who ride with outlawed gangs like the gypsy jokers etc.

Years ago (feeling old today) people who rode bikes were called bikers but the nasty ones were called bikies. When did that change?

Re: What would you do? Bikers vs SUV

you do realise tha anti association laws will apply to EVERYONE not just outlaw bike gangs right?

the bike clubs and outlaw gangs are the scapegoats being used to scare the general public into supporting these laws.
