Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
And...
...always look on the bright side
of life...
(Whistle)
Always look on the light side
of life...
(Whistle)

So, is Jessica advocating schadenfreude as a remedy for sadness?
If so, I find that sad.

I'm feeling sad, now.
Two funerals in two days and I'm tired of putting on the grim smile, and saying "I'm sorry for your loss", standing around in a carpark with strangers, feeling uncomfortable in an ill fitting rented suit.
People I liked are gone.
Like drinking and breathing, there is a time for one and not the other, so I will feel sad, now, because I know, later, that the time for not feeling sad will come.
It's okay to feel sad, it's appropriate, it's normal, it's a response to a situation.
It happens.
It doesn't mean you're weak, it means you're human.
