To explain... our local Woolworths is slowly but surely getting rid of name brand stock and they are replacing it with their own Select Brand, for example they use to keep Goulburn Valley fruit, now they only have the Select Brand and my kids tried it and hated it.
Now I've discovered that they don't keep the bird seed stick our parott likes, they've gone and replaced those with Select Brand too.
Now I have found where to buy the seed sticks which is great, but it got me wondering is there another way of getting grocery type stuff without having to travel all over town. Does anyone know of some secret online place where I can buy stuff online?
Thank You ๐

Our local supermarkets stopped supplying the CSIRO oats this winter. I did a google searcch and found they were being sold directly from the manufacturer and for about $2 a box less than the price I paid last year. So its worth doing a search. There should be more of it to let the supermarkets know we are not going to take it lying down. I detest 'home brand' anything, its always a watered down version of the real thing. Watch the prices rise when there is only home brand.
Very few oats on the market that are not Uncle Tobys, which sit like a glutenous glob in the bottom of the plate, so who know what the additives are because they are not listed on the box.

What about the smaller supermarkets like IGA? You might have to pay a bit more though, but isn't that C and WW's whole idea? Support your local butcher for meat, and markets are the best place to get fruit & veg anyway.
Wouldn't it be great if the whole country could rise up and boycott the big 2

You will find the smaller supermarkets IGA, F/Works etc, stock mostly name brands, a little bit dearer than the other two, Aldi also stock name brands of some items.
I only shop at Aldi and the majority of their items are made by the the name brands, anyway. and alot cheaper.

We are lucky we have near here a great veggie market, and they also carry some basic groceries. Their fruit & veggies are generally about 1/3 of Woolworth price or less , and ALDI is somewhere in between. Lately I have been getting beautiful avocados at $2 per kg from the market, while Woolworth has them at $4 each LOL I only go to Woolworth to get the Burgen bread I like, and if I need petrol voucher

Catch of the day has some food items, I'm sure I saw preserved fruits last time I visited.

But, what is wrong with fresh fruit? I would have never thought of feeding kids canned fruit regularly; it's full of suggar.

Canned fruit is available in fruit juice (no added sugar) Fresh fruit isn't always available all year around. If you like peaches with your muesli for breakfast, then it has to be canned when fresh is out of season.
IGA does stock the brand in the opening post.. a bit dearer though. They do have smaller cans in this brand too, which suits me sometimes.
To answer the witches question.. I have to go here there and everywhere to get the food I want.. which is.not home brand non australian products.

We have a Farmers Market (Co-operative) near us and I am able to buy locally produced vegies, meat, free range eggs, and milk. there. I buy as littleas possible from the big supermarkets.
