Where to STAY in FIJI?

We are a mature couple in our 50s, wanting a relaxing, stress-free holiday in FIJI in SEPT (about 8-9 days).

We’ve NEVER been before so we were hoping someone could advise us WHERE to stay – and I’m thinking here more in terms of the LOCATION rather than the hotel or resort (although of course any suggestions in that area is also welcome.)

We aren’t adventure or sporting tourists. We enjoy RELAXING in the hotel grounds, SWIMMING in the pool, eating, drinking, strolling around and SHOPPING.

So we would like a location:

  • That’s not too far from the airport (say one hour by taxi or bus or less)
  • That’s reasonably close to a big TOWN or city, for easy access to restaurants and shops
  • That’s NOT kiddie-friendly but has a more mature and laid back atmosphere
  • That’s in or near one of the main TOURIST HUBS where most of the action is likely to be. (We aren’t looking for anywhere isolated or out of the way)

As far as the HOTEL or RESORT is concerned, we could manage up to $A200 per night and that should inc breakfast.

Thanks for any help!

Re: Where to STAY in FIJI?

Thank you for the advice.

Someone on Trip Advisor has suggested the BEDARRA BEACH INN, which I believe is fairly close to the OUTRIGGER, but about 60% of the price of Outrigger

Anybody been there or know anything about it?

How about The Pearl South Pacific at Pacific Harbour - from memory it's less than an hour from Suva.

Or the Colo-i-Suva eco rainforest resort for something a little different

missed the edit window ...

Another option could be the Uprising - they have accommodation offers such as Stay 7, pay 5 etc

Re: Where to STAY in FIJI?

Hi you are betting punting for something close to the airport...........as thats a bit of a hike down to Pacific Harbour and will mean you will have a super early start to get back to the airport.

The Westin is in a group of hotels and there is plenty of shopping and little coffee shops etc etc.  The Westin generally doesnt have a heap of kids either whereas the Sheraton tends to have more:)
