Wow Daydream....you have done so much.
I can picture what you have done.
I know renos can be a burden sometimes, but a home is an integral part of the family.
It is their shelter and safe haven.
The size of the renovations is not important.....when money is short just a trip to Bunnings for a pot of paint is an adventure.
And using that paint is an achievement.
Small improvements are just as important as big ones.
And good for the soul.

I couldn't afford the house I would be happy with. I could afford this house, and even if I never get it finsihed it will still be a roof over my head and all mine. I really did think I would end up living in a shopping trolley under a tree so I'm thrilled to have this place even if it is a dump.

I hear you and many times i think wouldnt it be nice to just have a house thats perfect and finished, but, we couldnt afford a house like that.
The new houses being built now are on half size blocks or they are far out of town.
We have a huge 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2 living area house on a huge corner block only half hour from the CBD and 10 min from the beach. We got it for a great price because it was outdated.
Sure, we could happily live in it the way it was when we bought it but we want to make it our own

We bought a house with a view we are more than happy with, other houses we looked at didn't have that, houses can be renovated, views are not that easy ..... Depends what you want your self

georgia, I think it has a lot to do with how a place "feels". If you fall in love with a house or the view or a tree in the yard, or you just want somewhere to call your own, then making it how you'd like it to be even if it takes years, is worth it.
It's also okay to spend those years grumbling and wishing it was all done LOL !!
Well the handyman has finished tiling the splashback, finished the sliding door and is now putting up some new bits of moulding stuff under the eaves.
Next week, it will be removing a large part of a pelmut, patching the wall behind the fridge and freezer so it's ready to paint and list is still growing !!!
I think he will be coming here each Wed. for quite awhile yet.
So have you been to buy the Wisteria paint yet skwerl??
and daydream, did you take pics as you did each room?

Lucky you getting a handyman. We can't get anyone for the small jobs left to do. I think they are afraid of the drop bears out here in the country.
When we were looking we needed something with a Rural zoning so hubby can build his sheds his way (coupla logs and some baling wire)
Soul, I went in to the paint place last week and told Mr Paint Man i wanted a wisteria coloured paint, he looked them up on his computer but I couldnt see the one I was after. There are two homes in town painted the purple I want so I shall have to go and knock on their door.

Perhaps because a house should reflect YOUR personality and not someone elses style?

City life is not for us,we love, funny, run down, quirky little house, wouldn't want to live anywhere else

Long as it makes you happy ๐ I prefer the rolling, hills and open countryside myself, everyone is different ๐
