Why are Atheists so militant, strident and intolerant of people with religious beliefs?

How do they know there's no God? It's just a belief system.

That is hardly a description.What does God actually consist of?  Is it animal, vegetable, mineral, some kind of gas, all of the above or none of the above? And is it the same 'being' as Viracocha, the Great Creator worshipped by the Incas or Rangi, the primal Sky Father of the Maori people?

But who created god?

The first cause of what? Creating an entire universe in 6 days? Then leaving it alone for 10 billion years. Setting the universe up so a species on an obscure planet in a remote arm of an insignificant galaxy could ooh and ahh?

Why not the centre, at least, of that galaxy? More scope for oohing and aahing at god's wonders there. Especially when it's almost certain that the centres of galaxies are dominated by massive black holes. Lots of oohs, ahhs and irradiation there.

Reply: Who and what God may be is beyond human perception.  The Bible says that man is made inn God's image so a clue is there. Evidence supports the statement that the God of Abraham is he true God.

Some time I read an article by a scientist who was a strong believer in evolution. He gave an account of how he became a Christian and how he knew fhat God existed. I wish I had saved the article.

Yes, that iwas in the Catechism we had to learn by heart at my  convent school

A: God made me in His own image and likeness.

Q: Is this image to God chiefly in my body or my soul?

A: this likeness to God is chiefly in my soul.

We girls all reckoned a more accurate answer  to that last question (from the point of view of the Catholic Church) would be
