Particularly when every Labor governement in living history has amounted such huge debts whilst in office?
Or is it just that they blindly follow the old mantra, that 'Labor is for the working man?'
Now don't get me wrong - I don't particularly like Abbott, and I sure as h3ll didn't like Rudd or Gillard, but there's so much more to a political party than it's leader.
Feel free to discuss...

Labor buys votes with hand outs and welfare. Morality has nothing to do with it

I'll up your social morals with cold hard facts. With reality. Social morals shouldn't be the major issue in politics. Cold hard fact. Most Australians do not need any political parties "social morals" they need their taxes spent for the better good of those who actually pay taxes. Sounds harsh, but where do you think the taxes come from? Those who contribute, not from those who don't. We all want everyone to succeed. I'd rather teach than feed.

The top end of town (as you call it) provides jobs. Everyone needs to feel they are worthwhile, even in a job they don't like. Patting them on the head and saying you just aren't good enough is not my reality

I saw the pink batts as 'something back''' after being a family spending 48 cents in every dollar on taxes for most of our lives.
I thought it was a great thing and I'm still very thankful for it

Actually, I didn't. It seems that you've interpreted what I said, to mean what you believed it meant.
I said "Why are people such staunch Labor voters?' In and of itself, it does not pertain solely to posters on this forum, but to the wider Australian population, and my use of the word 'man', denotes both sexes equally.
As I was growing up, surrounded by blue-collar workers, it seemed the given thing to do - vote for the party who supposedly acted for the common man person, and fought for his their rights. If they did something untowards, or passed an act financially hurting their constituents - well, it MUST be allright - it's the Labor Party, so ultimately they're working for the little guys (and gals).
Woe betide anyone who acted out of character and voted for either of the other two major parties - or for that matter, drank anything but VB or Carlton draught. Any other beer here in Victoria was 'p@@fter beer!'
It seems more and more, that we all grow far more like our parents as we age, than we'd like to acknowledge. Habits, mannerisms, clothes, political and religious affiliations - and whenever our preffered party does something against character these days, we seem to either turn a blind eye, or make excuses for their acts of incompetence - but we are more than willing to slander the opposition!
