under 30's.. no dole for 6 months
Even those under 25's who are eligible for Youth Allce for 6 mths out of 12, will have $47 less per week (18% lower income than now).
They only get a pittance as it is, take $47 off that.... I see people going hungry.
Any money from the government is a safety net, not a lifestyle. You're really not meant to live on it.
You are expected to live on it while looking for another job. How are they supposed to pay rent etc. between jobs?
Most of them still live at home with the parents. Or weren't you aware of that stat?
And I must say. It is really nice to have no mod intervention, for everyone to have their say without being censored. Makes a nice change.

My SIL just spent 6 months applying for jobs. There were jobs to apply for but with all his experience and qualifications it took him 6 months to get one. There was just so much competition for them and most were actually filled internally after the interview process.
It really got him down because he was of the belief that there were plenty of jobs if people wanted one.

That is a gross generalisation. It doesn't apply to all Australians.

Mods don't need to intervene if posters don't make interpersonal shots at others. Most people can manage to do that.

Please post the stat.
Lots of under 25 live away from home, not everyone lives in a city. If school leavers live regional, they move to the city to attend Uni, they move to the city to seek employment.
Even 40 mins away from the city here, due to poor public transport, for young people without a car, it is best to move to the city if attending Uni or working there.
If they returned home to live with their parents in a rural area, because they were out of work, they wouldn't be likely to find any there, compared to in the city.

Of course not.

Yes.
I find the new Pokemon fan club both cute and disturbing.

That's rubbish. My SIL and daughter did plan very well. They just did not expect to be without work for so long that they had to ask the bank to reduce their mortgage payments for a few months. They paid extra when he started looking for work (before her maternity leave) and still needed to reduce the payments before he found a job (after maternity leave finished).
