I cant understand why people dont leave feed back when in reality they should be singing praises, Examples, I sell a bottle of perfume dirt cheap, they get it as I see the tracking say delivered, they got a bargain and yet no feed back..... or I buy a bottle of perfume, its meant to be brand new, I get it and its used, I leave positive feed back as I cant be bothered to complain, they leave no feed back, it just makes me want to take my posative feedback back, Im at the point I wont leave feed back unless they do first, What is wrong with people that should be happy as Larry but they cant leave feedback, Is it not important? Am I over zealous about collecting positive feedback? Should I not care or chase them up and ask why? One just of late Ive asked but no reply, no feedback, arrr, Why do I bother, Unless they died, I think its so rude. lol

My feedback is set to private because I use this ID for buying. I use another ID for selling and that is not private.
Buyers like to read the seller's feedback sometimes and maybe private feedback for a seller is not a good option.
Ok, Ill not sell, thanks, Ive only sold 4 things and can do with out that, thank you

Quality is more important than quantity when it comes to feedback as a seller. If your feedback reflects that you are providing quality service, buyers will have the confidence to deal with you. Feedback for buyers is really of very little use. Sellers can only leave Positive feedback with positive comments, so ebayers who are buyers only, will automatically have 100% positive feedback, even if they regularly delay payment, send abusive communications, dont pay at all etc. Its all a bit of a farce really.
Feedback is voluntary and not important to many people. Some ebayers take offence to being preasured to leave feedback. They come to ebay just to buy and sell stuff, and dont have the time or inclination to take part in what some regard as a rather childish, Americanised, smiley stamp programme. Many take the attitude that they buy, they pay promptly, you pack and send reliably and as described, jobs done, everyones happy. End of story.
OP, with over 400 feedbacks, others have more than enough information to judge you as a buyer and seller.
If you provide excellent service, the feedback will take care of itself without you having to worry too much about it and the numbers will grow over time.

I remember back in the day when there was an entire board devoted to feedback, and everyone and his dog had opinions on when and if feedback should be left.

You won't be able to sell anyway...not if you set your feedback to private...sellers are not allowed to do that.

For seller or buyer - if they have set their feedback to private I assume something shonky is going on.

I need a martini - Sellers cant set their feedback to private. Ebay block private feedback ebayers from selling. ( as they should ) . Only buyers can use private feedback. As buyers can only have 100% positive feedback with positive comments, a buyers feedback is a meaningless count of how many purchases they have made and recieved feedback for. If a seller leaves Pos. feedback with negative comment, the buyer can have it removed, making buyers feedback totaly worthless and meaningless. What does it matter if it is private ? As a seller, I rarely check my buyers feedback, only having a look if there is a problem and hoping some sellers have broken ebays rules and given hints of past possible trouble.
Non paying buyers should have an automatically generated red dot added to their feedback, with a statement such as "Buyer did not pay for, or finalise transaction" . This would make a buyers feedback much more worthwhile and give a better indication of their buying history, without the payback scenarios that where a problem with the previous system, where a seller could neg. a buyer.
There are many reasons why people set their feedback to private. They may use their accounts as a buying accounts to resell items on ebay and dont want the items tracked by others. They may buy items of a personal nature including medical items as well as the sort you may be thinking of. They may not want their medical conditions to be public knowlege. They may not want others seeing who they trade with on a regular basis.
In my case I use private feedback on this account as I use it to post on the forums. In the past I have had my main selling account targeted for some very strange, unwanted attention when using my real selling ID,s to post on the phorums. There are some rather strange people trawling the forums and playing some fairly sophisticated games, as well as the more common, garden variety of nutter that gets mentioned here from time to time.

Yeah, Truth is I got sick of my family and friends knowing where I buy from and how much i pay, so as a buyer only, Im happier with feed back private, Happy new year all xxx

I refuse to leave feed back now after a dispute with ebay over a feedback I left a dodgy seller that sold used items as NIB unopened.
I left the seller honest FB and they had it removed, I questioned the removal and it was reinstated with ebay saying it was incorectly removed, the next day it was again removed, further follow up went no where, it would apear ebay are not interested in real feedback when it comes to power sellers and making fees.
and no its not on the account
