We've got 9 major fires burning in Oregon right now, 3 right around Southern Oregon, and two more have been reported, one just north of us, and one 12 miles south. Over 300 lightning strikes in our locality this afternoon.
Looks like Erickson will be keeping most of their S-64 helos right around home........

oh,definitely. when we got stomped with the microburst,i paid 50 each for 4 estimates. the company with the second lowest bid had a good rep,and the owner was a friend of a friend,so we went with them.
he was a doll,he actually gave me a 200 discount just for showing him the other estimates. and he taught me how to replace my screens myself,as miles had a habit of pushing through them to get outside, lol!
but he told me the same thing you did,how many people cheat on their insurance, and had me document their work with pictures, and keep all of the bills he presented,so if i ever get hit again,i'll have proof that i had all the damage fixed. a very nice man!

Elvis the sky crane was stationed at my town for part of the 2009 fires in Victoria. Never had the sound of a chopper been so comforting (usually a chopper overhead meant the air ambulance was picking up a critically ill person).
Most of the people in my shire have a great affection for the pilots of the skycranes.
I hope things settle down quick bandcamp

Yeah I"ve been wondering that too. Being a Victorian we have just had so many fires, some people are now starting to recover slowly from Black Saturday (2009), and the regeneration is amazing but it's taken a hell of a long time to recover for some and the scars are still very visible on the landscape in some places.
The Vic fires were bad again this year. An opencut coal mine in Morwell caught alight and burnt for over a month.
We hear Arson is to blame alot.
Does Arson get blamed in America like in the media and stuff?
