Finally back here after long time. So many things have changed here😁

 The posters Chameleon is bemoaning the loss of, were permanently banned for inappropriate postings and bullying.

If this is the calibre of posters that he thinks is a loss to these boards, then that speaks volumes to me,

Perhaps he could name some of the ones he misses, if he disagrees with that assessment.

Many here condemn the bullying by Russia, but accept and at times condone the constant barrage of narcissistic and derogatory memes and comments from a couple of regular posters.

Good day imastawka. I'm sorry but what you have said is incorrect. The posters that chameleon54 is referring to are the ones who used to get in and discuss a wide range of subject, I'm quite sure I know who he means. They were never banned. They just drifted away due to lack of interest.

While there are some meaningful discussions tasfleur, I believe that there are not enough. I know from experience that certain subjects or rather issues can't be discussed as the silliness starts.

I'm sure chameleon54 doesn't have a low opinion of you. I sure don't! And I'm sure he doesn't have that with a lot of people here. Looking at what he initially said, his frustration is with a few individuals who carry on in a certain way.  I too have been contacted by some members here who have voiced their frustration.

You've got a point with the layout of this forum tasfleur. I found it terrible when it first happened. It felt a bit like being an ant attempting to navigate through some shag-pile carpet. Sure, that's going to be part of it. But he is right. I do know that some of the regulars just don't want to come back because of a certain few.

With regard to your comments complaining of   “piles on, bullying, derogatory memes and comments" I think the following might be instructive:

In the Oscars Slap thread #40 I posted: you are allowing political rhetoric (i.e. your choice of words) to obscure your argument. (you will note this is a reference to the words you posted, not a personal attack on your character)

You responded #42: And you are allowing mob rule mentality and blind unquestioning support for a deeply flawed social movement to distract you from presenting thoughtful, reasoned debate.

There is no way that the words “mob rule mentality” and “blind unquestioning support”, when addressed specifically to me, can be interpreted as anything other than a personal attack on my character.

I believe chameleon54 was speaking in general. There has indeed been a bullying culture here and it is usually by the same group of individuals. There have been others here besides myself and respected members like chameleon54 and a respected former regular lady who have pointed this out. One of those others who mentioned it once or twice was and still is a current regular lady.  She's well-known for her balance and fairness when debating. She's well-respected too. Another lady who pointed this out came and posted for a while last year doesn't come back.  Ah, I just remembered another lady too. She was a nurse I believe. She doesn't come back. And another who is still here posts on other board now to avoid the nonsense.  Also a chap who  has been noted for his outspokenness has mentioned this carry on too. He had some not so nice things said about him.  He was not a crook like one other member here said.

So, I think chameleon54 was just voicing his frustration. Understanding where he's coming from, I believe his words to be fair and accurate.

@ stawka -What a load of rubbish. Please substantiate your personal attack with the thread and post number where I have identified which posters I am referring to. If you cant then maybe you should consider an apology. ( if you have got the personal integrity to do that ) 

I have NEVER mentioned  the names of posters who have left the boards due to the behaviour of a few and for a very good reason. Over the last couple of years I have received a number of private messages of support for posts which challenge the culture of pile ons and bullying that a few here delight to engage in. Some of these posters where more moderate ones who never ruffled feathers, but simply moved away due to the toxic culture of the forum. Others engaged in intelligent debate, but where driven away by the constant derogatory memes and pile ons from a small group.

You may also be surprised at the private views a few of the current, highly respected posters hold about the damage a small group is doing to this forum.
