They look like Merten's Water Monitors
Where I stay, one lives in the small dam next to the big shed and often walks down the road
- funnily enough often when I go for a shower across the track !!!

Well, the water monitor would probably say not because if I walk out the shower, "it" has a look - of disgust
and then waddles off down the track !!!

Oh yes I can
I didn't go into detail but lets just say "drying myself off on the concrete outside the shower
with the bright sun reflecting on the often white English body"
Now you can see why it is always disgusted !!! LOL

Mans' rituals and animals' rituals colliding in time. That's all.
And his "look of disgust" is perhaps his sadness at not having a dancing partner with your human presence.
Or the soap suds interfering with his habitat.
I'm not trying to pick, just thinking like a water monitor may.

No, the soap suds go into a concrete holding tank, it doesn't enter the water table.
When I am "out bush", I don't use soap near rivers / water courses for obvious reasons.
I might be a hunter but I work on the philosophy of all you leave is footprints and all you take are photos.
I get looked at weirdly because I stub out my smokes and then put the butt in my pocket. An old army habit
that means your (or my) litter isn't there when I go back in a years time !!!
Anyway, here is a photo I managed to snap of it. And a snake that crossed the road a bit out of camp
which was nice to see as a lot of the wildlife has died because of the cane toad invasion.

I'll return later - WWOOOAAA - snakes.
Just fainted.
No-one here to pick me up.
