Well done to you.

When I used to "go bush", many years ago I might add, washing was in an enamel bowl for the 3 "F" parts of the body.

Face, Feet and F*****y, (armpits).

Do you work "in the bush" or are you a modern day swagman?

They look like Merten's Water Monitors

Where I stay, one lives in the small dam next to the big shed and often walks down the road

- funnily enough often when I go for a shower across the track !!!

Mans' rituals and animals' rituals colliding in time.  That's all.

And his "look of disgust" is perhaps his sadness at not having a dancing partner with your human presence.

Or the soap suds interfering with his habitat.Smiley EmbarassedSmiley Frustrated

I'm not trying to pick, just thinking like a water monitor may.

Think it may have been more of a 'startled' than 'disgust' look.

Given the 'white english body' glowing in the sun - the monitor probably thought it was witnessing the 'second coming'.

Helen

I'm normally wary of them. I can't remember what this is but I doubt I would have got that close if my mate had said it was deadly.

Edit - I just looked it up, it is a Black headed Python.

Funnily enough, talking of snakes, a HUGE, and I mean HUGE Green Python - like 8 - 10 foot long lived in a tree next to the camp and

sometimes "hung down" at night, waiting to grab a wallaby or a quoll. I always shone the torch around a fair bit before going

to the loo at night. It was thicker than my arms Smiley LOL

No, go hunting, get rid of ferals is what I do now - mostly.

Everything gets eaten or we take it and give it to the Aboriginies. They love a free feed !

I stay with some Aboriginies when I am up there, learn a lot from them, how to hunt traditional stuff via traditional means.

Some is nice, some is yuk - like fruit bats !!!

"enamel bowl"

Never had one but seen them. Always seemed to have the rectangular plastic bowls with rounded edges

for everything, even as a kid years ago in the UK. Always worked well. I suppose habits die hard !!! LOL

By your question you know but soap and oils are one of the worst things you can put into the bush water supply

as it never seems to go away. You see the "frothy" effect at weirs etc and it seems to go round and round.
