Your Say on Gay Marriage

I heard Tony Windsor this morning talking about the idea of a referendum on gay marriage.

Would you vote for or against gay marriage if it was an option in September's election?

Re: Your Say on Gay Marriage

that doesnt make it right.

lets say that a homosexual relationship is forbidden according to the Bible. Then it is forbidden in all instances --whether one wants to make it legal or does it behind other people's backs ---it is still forbidden

Someone who has a sham marriage and a homosexual relationship at the same time - is doing more than one thing wrong ---ie have a same sex relationship, and lying to their spouse, and the list probably goes on and on. Makes it worse, not better.

Re: Your Say on Gay Marriage

IDTPA I agree with your second paragraph, and that's why I support gay marriage.  That allows everyone to be happy and honest.

It won't stop these sham marriages.  These homosexual people marry for many other reasons.  The pressures of society are too powerful to make much of a difference IMO.

Re: Your Say on Gay Marriage

As a related detail.......did you know that the ratio of left-handed people is significantly greater in homosexuals than in the overall population?

to be the slightly brave one B-)

anyone on here voting no, would be eaten alive, regardless of what reason they gave, and ESPECIALLY if they were to say "religious reasons"

why would any no voter even attempt to explain??

So true.  Any justification, especially religious will not and has never been accepted here.  Not only that, it has been met with hostility and even abuse so no, I don't blame people for preferring to remain anonymous.

This wiki article is quite good at explaining different religious views on homosexuality:

I'm also surprised at these poll results, I thought an overwhelming majority would be voting FOR gay marriage, although, there were members of G&L community who marched in protest of same sex marriage during the recent protests in France so there is really no way of knowing who the anonymous voters here are.

Re: Your Say on Gay Marriage

Well I am not yet a citizen, so I can't vote in September, but my hubby votes and I know he would vote for it.
