Wow, does he look good for 84 or what!

It is Ringo Starr.

 

I am trying to figure out why he looks more mid 60s than 80s. I think it is the hair, he still seems to have a lot of it and it is not grey, plus his skin and the fact he hasn't got that middle age spread.

This is him on his birthday last year. He sure doesn't look his age.

Perhaps his lifestyle choices over the years were perfect for him?

Maybe he has reformed a bit in his later years.

In any case, he is looking good.

Here are my Ringo and Star. Star passed Jan 2023 and I still miss her. Ringo is 15 now. photo was taken about 14 years ago but Star looked like that to the end.

I believe his hair and beard are 'prematurely' brown.  🤣

He's a vegetarian and gave up smoking in 1990 and has had a stable marriage to Barbara Bach since 1981.   They are always together.

So, yeah, lifestyle comes into it, I would say.

Yes, I wondered about the hair but the beard got me. What a lot of trouble it would be to keep a beard brown.

He may be like my husband who is in his 70s and no grey hair. It is most unfair as he couldn't care less about his hair colour while I pay to stay prematurely brown.🤣

Springy, my hubby has had white hair since he was 30 (he says it's my fault)

I now have grey hair - it's fashionable they say - young 'uns are getting grey hair deliberately.

I just wish it would go the same colour all over, not just white around the face.

Still, could be worse.

In 1976 following the breakup of The Beatles, Ringo was hitting the bottle real hard. He has subsequently revealed that he had a "nervous breakdown". He was so depressed and desperate that he felt a compulsion to self-harm. However, he was lucid enough to realize the consequences of such behaviour so he chose to cut his hair off and shave his skull - a socially acceptable form of self-harm (to him).

Ringo married Barbara in 1981 and underwent addiction treatment in 1988. He then cleaned up his act and has never looked back. It is a testament to the man's strength and character that he was able to get it together rather than live a full life of sex, drugs and rock n roll, as many of his peers have. Perhaps that is a big part of the reason why he looks so much better than them?
