without a moral lawgiver [God] in a true atheistic society with all the evolutionary doctrine acceptable. if then everybody's view/point/understanding is then relative
would rape be legal?
killing off those who are a burden to society, the handicapped, blind, down syndrome be encouraged?
what about the elderly?
infanticide?
and would gays be worse off since they don't contribute to mans upward evolutionary struggle?
to who's standard would society look to?
since so many posters on here don't like God so much have you truly considered what would happen?
this one's for you bob or at least in reverse to your normal topics.

probably much the same, (apart from those who use it for control resorting to other methods)

and without God there is no atheism
on 29-05-2013 04:57 PM
thanks for your honesty Lakeland, don't you think the "restraints" that Christianity brings would make that society worse?

As 'God' is not a proven entity and 'exists' (for the want of a better word) purely on the faith of those who want it to be that way, I'm going to watch this thread with interest.
It could be argued that it isn't a God that actually polices the world, rather, it's humans anyway?
Good to see you again Gav xx

it would for those who find the restraints intolerable. i'm not an atheist BTW, i have no evidence God doesn't exist (or indeed does)

imagination is part of our make-up and the evolution of the mind
if that was deleted, there would be no art or music or technology for that matter.
perhaps that might be a good thing, there would be no man made global warming

Christopher Hitchens - "Human decency is not derived from religion. It precedes it."
as an aside-I was so happy to hear old Popey giving me his blessing. I feel sooo much better about being an atheist now 😛

you to tas, ive got some spare time thought I might get some point of views on a sermon I've been thinking of.
thought for you then - the nations based on "Christian principles" the Westminster system etc compared to other "none God" based systems ie communism and facism or dictatorships. which would you prefer to live in and why?

It's very hard to answer a question like that Gav, because the 'Christian
systems, in my opinion, throughout their awful histories have not demonstrated that comparatively they are not just as barbaric as one another.
It's a deeply complex subject, vastly diverse and too difficult to solve.
