hate speech

there is that law here that i am not allowed to promote hate speech which is fine with me.

religious books however are excepted.

even though they have a serious impact on society.

i do understand why it is so but it is still madness to allow a book to be published that demands that people kill other people because they have different thoughts.

we are reaping the harvest.

ah well...

Re: hate speech

Godwin's law (or Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies) is an Internet adage asserting that "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches — that is, if an online discussion (regardless of topic or scope) goes on long enough, sooner or later someone will compare someone or something to Hitler or Nazism.

Even if you do know of it, doesn't mean you are automatically going to bring Hitler into any discussion.

I would say very few know what it is as it hasn't been cited here while I have been on, which is unusual.

Hence my comment on the tameness of this forum.

Wrong assumption.

How long have you been on?

This board (change of names & moderators) has been going for 10-14 years!

OK, so you know what Godwins Law is, but you aren't going to say it/use it. They why did you assume others might not have the same thoughts as you. Rather than incorrectly accusing most here of not knowing about it?

I have been on a short time, but how long I have been on is totally irrelevant to the point.
The fact is, it is the length of the discussion / thread and since we have a couple of very long threads on this forum,
the fact Godwins law hasn't been invoked more regularly is what I was getting at.

Knowing it has Zero relation to bringing it into a discussion. Zero.

Nothing to do with the chance of bringing the comoparison into a discusison.

It is relevant because Godwin's Law has been mentioned a lot in the past, just because you didn't see it, doesn't mean you can assume it hasn't been posted, or people haven't heard of it.

Why would anyone who knows Godwin's law mention Hitler or Nazi's in a long thread, they know they will get jumped on for mentioning it.

Anyway, my main point is, that comment is what you assume to be the case only. imo it is a wrong assumption. Especially if you are only referring to the short amount of time you have been on.
