icac's and inquiries

its not hard to see why govts are loath to start inquiries or build a true ICAC

history shows often its those who start them who suffer the most

Chris Eccles, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews' top bureaucrat, resigns after hotel quarantine inquiry requests phone records

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-10-12/premier-daniel-andrews-dept-head-chris-eccles-resigns/1275361...

dans got himself in a mess, no amount of hand washing will get the dirt off his hands

in NSW gladys is in a similar situation

the spin doctors will be earning their keep these next days/weeks

the media can find the most unflatering photos

Hot takes on Gladys Berejiklian's 'sex scandal' abound โ€” but it's worth digging deeper than the reactions

Re: icac's and inquiries

Regarding Glady's woes it's amazing how the majority of her colleagues

and the liberal backers want to use how she handled the bushfires and

covid crises to badger support for her current crisis. The fires and covid

have nothing to do with this ICAC inquiry. She was complicit and stood

to share the spoils of his dodgy dealings when as has been acknowledged

by them both the relationship was to become a permanent one.

She knew he was corrupt. Her excuse to continue the affair for 2 years after

his sacking she claims was because he was in a dark place. That excuse

doesn't pass the pub test. She is not fit to continue as Premier and has shown

herself as a weak questionable leader.

Which proves Chameleon's point about blind faith...

No it doesn't. What it suggests is Victorians have wisened up to the agendas of the media and the PM. It's clear to them that Daniel Andrews is being relentlessly attacked because he's a Labor Premier. If anything it has highlighted how dumb and blind some Liberal supporters are because they just can't get it. Suckers.

perhaps it's the daily Andrews press conferences where we've seen a lot of disparity between what's been said and what's been reported

I think you're right Debra.

I highly doubt anyone from interstate would bother to sit through Dan's press conferences every day to see what's what.

Non-Vics would just be reliant on the printed reports

Not true, many people living near the Vic/SA are interested in what he has to say each day, mainly 'cause it affects them, their families, their health,  their employment etc etc

@not_for_sale:
Some ppl only feel they've "wisened up to the antics of the media" when it goes against their their mindset.
If the "antics of the media" are with them, they call it"facts"

Re: icac's and inquiries

did anyone else notice Angus Taylor's name come up in ICAC yesterday??

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/oct/17/louise-waterhouse-met-with-top-officials-and-...

Three federal infrastructure department officials and federal MP Angus Taylor separately met with Louise Waterhouse while she lobbied for potentially lucrative changes to her vast landholdings near the Western Sydney airport.
