I had quite a good stash of loo rolls, but after giving some away and family using some, it is starting to get down a bit. I picked up four rolls from a country IGA yesterday. They are obviously buying in bulk packs and repackaging them into thin fruit type plastic bags. The price..... $4.00 for four rolls. On the last New Years Eve who would have thought we would be paying a buck a roll for dunny paper ?.

I don't think that's even legal, to repackage.

In a free market economy ( semi-free market anyhow) the question is if the supermarkets are not meeting customer demand then the manufacturer is missing out on sales and therefor revenue , which is would not be exactly part of their business plan

So are the manufacturers happy about the situation , if not what are they doing about the supply problem

Something is worse than seems as even independent wholesalers supplying businesses ( not for resale) are out of stock for many line items, so not just supermarkets

so now the question is , has there been organised plundering of  both retail and wholesale outlets with items privately exported ?

With the only way the supermarkets can maintain supply without causing an international issue is to keep to the normal schedule and introduce inhouse sales restrictions ?

many packs of things like chocolates have 'not to be sold seperately' printed on the internal wrappings.

i have a feeling opening packs of toot paper then selling the indivirual rolls in smaller amounts really is against a law.

but who will enforce the law?

Consumer Affairs, maybe?

Repackaging is def illegal - just had a quick google.

And...at $1 per roll it's also price gouging IMO.

Here in NSW - I would be photographing the repackaged toot paper - and filing a complaint with Fair Trading.

I think they do that to enable more people to purchase at least one roll to tide then through - is not a gouging issue

the supply has collapsed at the pos - need direct Govt intervention, although I think will be reluctant as with be seen internationally ( meaning northwards) as a concession to socialist-like control , and so being grounds for questions as to how free-market we really are , which may impact upon ongoing trade and understandings negotiations at high levels between countries of divergent economic systems and much influence

however meight just be a case of apathy

Your posts are like doing a cryptic crossword.  And I have trouble with them.

Please, better sentence construction, and use a full stop when necessary.
