I was told a story, years back, about a writer who visited a aborigial settlement.
He was talking to one of the elders, an old man, and the old man said "It won't be too long before I become the manual".
The writer was mildly horrified by the mental image of the old man reduced to sweeping and picking up rubbish around the camp, and said as much.
The old man roared with laughter and said "No, mate, not manual labour, the Manual - what you turn to, when you need answers".
People's value doesn't diminish with age.
