the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

This is a thread with no particular

Topic so no one can be off topic 🙂

So if anyone out there has something

To say about anything you like now

Is your chance

Keep it clean

And be nice

See how long that lasts

Can we keep politics and religion out

Of the conversation

Ecar, you ought to put your funny stories into a book or ebook or audiobook and sell it on Ebay or Amazon. You might call it  "Me And My Birds"...

And don't forget the possums.....they would give enough entertainment for a second book.

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

Possums?

Did someone say possums? ha ha.

The little possum chose to climb down from Mum's back, not in the careful "slow and steady like an alligator walks" way, but more in the "There's a platform... it's okay, it'll break my fall" style, ha ha.

Plop!

Had I ever wondered what the sound of a little possum falling onto a plywood sheet sounded like, now I know, ha ha.

She's down, it's time for a quick explore, and then...

"I've got teeth!".

Well, at least, I hope she's got teeth, because otherwise her little gums are going to be sore, after the way she mowed into the pile of sunflower kernels.

She climbed up onto Mum's back, and Mum shuffled forward to have a drink...

Sitting here, listening to Mum have a drink isn't as interesting as the food back there is...

Down she climbed...

Mum walked off onto the side bridge, stopped, and looked back... that look that only mums can do... ha ha.

Quick as a wink the little girl was back in place, and they headed off into the night, ha ha.

There's another old man bird who's been coming by.

He likes bread.

Would you like some seed?

No thanks...

How about some bread...

Does this face look excited...? ha ha.

I see you've found a smallish piece of bread, that you're holding in your claw and nibbing away at...

Would you like this larger piece of bread?

No thanks, I've already got a piece of bread...

There's a logic in that, somewhere...ha ha.

Over time I've given thought, not so much to a book, but a dedicated blog for the bird and the possums stories.

But the nagging doubt-thought is always there - how long do you think you'd last before it stopped being fun, and it started being something that you'd very quickly start hating?

How long would it be before I stopped enjoying writing?

This format's great because I can write when I want - I can write, today, but i don't feel like I have to write, tomorrow.

I probably will write, tomorrow, because I enjoy writing, but I don't feel that I'm bound to it.

"Free as a bird", that's the expression I'm looking for, ha ha.

I worked out that half the reason I've become so fascinating to the baby girl magpie is that her parents are off doing grown up things - finding sticks for a nest, preparing for the next brood, and she's become a third wheel.

I think she's feeling a little bit lonely.

I imagine she has a dozen or so "friends" like me, scattered across the suburb - people she can spend time with.

We're not magpies, but that's okay, we're still nice... ha ha.

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

Takeaway's over on the big table, nibbling away....

The little one's off to her right, frolicking in a pile of bread, because bread isn't just for eating...ha ha.

The ear flicks, and Takeaway sits up... She looks off to her right, with her "Hmmm..." face.

This can only mean business... ha ha.

She spins around on the spot and heads over the short bridge to the small table and up onto the ramp, heading in the direction of "the noise"...

But what about the little possum...?

Realising that Mum's not sitting there... she engages four paw drive and she's off the big table, over the bridge, onto the small table and...

Ah...

The ramp...

But Must follow Mum...

Must engage "Ramp drive"...

The front feet work independently - left, right, left, right... and the back feet work in tandem... hop, hop... hop, hop...

She looked like a very cleverly made clockwork toy as she sped up the ramp, after Mum, ha ha.

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

I built a little raised perch onto a plastic plate so that the wattlebird doesn't have to waste time waiting for me to put the plate down, when I go outside.

All I have to do now is open the door and the bird can come straight to the plate, ha ha.

All this convenience...

Now if only I could teach them to make a decent cup of tea, in return, ha ha.

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

While the wattlebird fluttered, like a demented hummingbird, "showing me" where the door handle was, I wondered if his display was more for the purpose of impressing a girl, or girls, than because he was trying to show me how clever he is...

Even with his assistance, I managed to get the door open, all the while thinking that he was after food, and that if he went into the house, he'd come back out... ha ha.

Hopefully his display ticked the right boxes...Look at me, I'm a step beyond a good provider, I can tell the man to bring the food out... Pretty impressive, huh? ha ha.

I have a "Bird in the house" mental image...

It's not a matter of coming into the house and finding things have been knocked over, or broken, so much as seeing the kitchen cupboard open, and hearing a disembodied voice from within... "I thought you said you had minute oats... oh, it's okay... here they are... does your DVD player work? It's just I saw you've got the first Star Wars movie... I've seen it that many times I reckon that I know the dialogue by heart... It's a classic... We should watch it some time...".

I don't think I could cope with having that in my house... ha ha.
