Mother magpie turned up in the late afternoon and made a bee line for the macaroni, stopping only to snap at an over inquisitive cockatoo, ha ha.
"Supper", she said... "I meant to say that yesterday... Macaroni, the supper of champions...", ha ha.
Having eaten a few pieces, she grabbed a good sized chunk and headed off over the fence...
If I'm careful, straining and draining it, I can keep some some of the chunks that stick together, together.
She loves those - it's her idea of convenience food... three or four pieces of macaroni "in one", ha ha.
A couple of minutes she left, Father magpie turned up.
He didn't look too interested in the macaroni, at first...
He preferred walking around, stretching his legs - I think he was glad to be off the nest for a bit, ha ha.

You're probably familiar with the high pitched, annoying whine of tinnitus.
It's annoying... As if I need to tell you... ha ha.
Now, imagine that tone, only slightly lower.
But just as persistent, and just as annoying...
I thought that one of the starlings had got stuck, mid song, ha ha.
It's a really annoying sound...
Piercing, unrelenting...
At the risk of understating things, or repeating myself, it's annoying... ha ha.
Following some investigation (quietly opens back door and looks in the direction of the sound... very scientific, I know...), it turned out to be a baby rainbow lorikeet.
A little, three quarter sized rainbow lorikeet, just like an adult, only smaller, but no less annoying when it comes to the amount noise they make! ha ha.
So now I know, and I can add that to my "What annoying noise is that?" notebook... ha ha.
If I remember I'll get back to you in five or six week's time (as a generous estimate), and whine about the noise that baby magpies make, and let's say December/January, if memory serves correct, for the baby galahs... ha ha.
As for the cockatoos, I'm not sure if they hold to a specific breeding season - I never know when the next rasping, gurgling serenade will come from out the front (followed, not too many days after, by someone stomping around on the roof, and bellowing for a parent, any parent, to come and feed it, ha ha).

Daughter's Mrs Magpie turned up today for the first time, in a long time.
Guess she's been nesting. Mum and dad were here together today, filling
their beaks with crushed walnuts for a treat for the nursery.
Last year's twins are still peeping when dad is around. hahahaha
Even though they tower over him, they still pretend and fluff themselves up.
Funny to watch. There's an older one from last year, who's a bully to one of them.
But they all seem to manage quite well.
Can't wait for them to bring the new young 'uns to visit.

Baby magpies are a hoot, ha ha.
I get so used to them wandering around being independent, bold, birds of the world, then a parent turns up and they turn to jelly, ha ha.
It was bread and bugs day, today.
I was a bit disorganised, and by the time I'd got the macaroni out they'd already taken care of supper, ha ha.
One of the girl cockatoos that I haven't seen for... grabs a hipster and starts scratching his beard, ha ha...oh, ages, possibly as far back as before last Summer, turned up.
She looked a bit hesitant, but that changed quickly enough...
"Here's some food, just for you... here, where the other birds can't see it... It's our secret... (wink)".
Hesitant turned into "I love you and must never let you out of my sight..." pretty quickly, ha ha.
It's good to have her back.
Of course I do have that sneaking feeling that tomorrow I'm going to meet the other half, and the offspring, ha ha.
It's always the way... You meet a nice girl, and she meets someone else... ha ha.
