I knew I'd remember to write this down... ha ha.
It's getting on for possum time and I'm pacing under the pergola, trying to guess which house they'll emerge from...
On wet days, Takeaway, particularly, likes to "sleep in", so it can be nearly dark before there's any activity...
It's still light and suddenly there's a scurrying on the bridge, above...
A little grey figure darts towards the Old house doorway, gets about half way in, and starts squeaking...
"Mum! I'm home!"... Ha ha.
Okay, so where were you staying, cheeky, semi independent little girl? Ha ha.
The bridge comes from the pergola, across to the tree, then it's a matter of climbing down the two or three pegs/branches to get down to the short bridge between the two tables...
You walk along the bridge, you climb down the tree...
If you want to get back up to the bridge you use the ramp...
It seems fairly logical...
Unless you're a semi independent little girl possum... ha ha.
Twice, I saw her, which is not to say there hadn't been other attempts, ha ha, sitting on the little bridge between the tables, sizing up the tree, before leaping...
Attempt #1 was almost a success... She was out by about a quarter centimetre, and so some awkward scrabbling was required, at the top...
Attempt #2, that I saw, was an Olympic Gold Medal performance...Absolutely seamless... ha ha.
Both times she got up onto the bridge and scampered off along it...
The first time I thought she might be looking for her Mum...
The second time I thought No, she's just having fun being her; a semi independent little girl possum, ha ha.
For all her independence she still suddenly succumbs to the urge to give Mum a Great Big Hug, at times, which can come as quite a surprise to her Mum, ha ha.
