The bird "toy" is a length of cord with beads on it.
Tie a knot, slide a wooden bead up to the knot, tie a knot underneath... repeat as necessary... ha ha.
It hangs from an eyebolt screwed into the pergola frame from a clip like this -
It makes it easier to take down and replace the beads on it when they chew through them, ha ha.
They've worked out how to undo it...
"We don't need hands or thumbs", ha ha.
I don't know exactly how they do it, but I think they turn the clip around until it's jammed in the ring it's attached to, then work on the slide mechanism...
They're clever... They're deviously clever...
Thankfully, up til now they haven't worked out how to open a simple sliding flyscreen door, because if that happens, the game will be up, ha ha.
