the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

This is a thread with no particular

Topic so no one can be off topic 🙂

So if anyone out there has something

To say about anything you like now

Is your chance

Keep it clean

And be nice

See how long that lasts

Can we keep politics and religion out

Of the conversation

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

I opened the back door in the morning and there were two old man birds sitting on the bridge opposite the door...

Waiting... ha ha.

I swear they've lined up the door with the bridge and drawn chalk lines on the bridge so they know exactly where to sit... ha ha.

They cheerfully greeted me and asked if I'd brought breakfast, in an optimistic tone...

It's warm, this morning, relatively speaking of course, ha ha.

It's a nice change from yesterday, when the wind was blowing a gale and reminding all and sundry that it had recently snowed not far from here...

The only reason I couldn't see my breath was because of the not quite howling gale that was blowing, ha ha.

On the plus side I won't have to rake up any leaves, as they're all now neatly piled against the fence at one end of the garden, ha ha.

There were two old man birds huddled at the end of the bridge, looking grumpy...

It wasn't the cheeriest of greetings - "We're cold... Where's the food?" delivered in a gruff tone, ha ha.

It's a sign of the Winter ahead... the colder it gets, the more gruff the greetings will become... ha ha.

Making a whole new wardrobe, Tas?

There's plenty of places online that can give you handy hints and tips, so you're not likely to be short of instructions.

From experience I've found that it's a good idea to draw a red circle at the bottom of the inside of one of the doors, with a red diagonal line across it...

Above the line, in the circle, write "Lion", and below the line write "Witch".

It just lets them know that it's not that kind of wardrobe...

I built a wardrobe, beautifully framed, clad, painted, but didn''t think beyond that and it took me ages to get rid of the infestation of magical woodland creatures... ha ha.

Not that kind of wardrobe?, ha ha.

Auditions for the role of Ned Kelly in the local amateur drama society's upcoming production of the play The life and times of Ned Kelly were not going entirely to plan...

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

The day grew late and I sat in the cold wondering if anyone would drop in...

They did - a soft "plop" on the roof was followed  "Are you there?", ha ha.

I thought it might be one of the young ones, "geographically embarrassed", who was looking to find their bearings, but no...

I stepped out from under the pergola and a little bald head poked out from over the guttering...

Regular as clockwork, it's the original old man bird, ha ha.

"Am I too late? Is there still food? It's really good to see you... ".

Down he came from the roof and onto the bridge, and straight past the first pile of food - "Too small... That one over there's bigger...", and made a bee-line for it, ha ha.

One of the cockatoos, earlier in the day, standing on the  bridge made a muffled squeak...

I looked out and it had it's crest up, head up, and it's wings slightly away from it's body...

Obviously something's ruffled it's feathers, ha ha.

So why is it the other cockatoo, not three feet away from it sitting there as if nothing has happened?

The first cockatoo is, or was, sitting under the hole in the roof...

There's half the answer... ha ha...

On top of the roof, poking it's head through the hole and looking cheeky is a currawong, looking cheeky and being a currawong... ha ha.

I must retrieve that piece of rope from the far end of the garden, where they left it having played with it, last time.

(They never put their toys away, ha ha...),

It's going to be better all round if the currawongs have their own toys rather than resorting to using the other birds for amusement, ha ha.

Having just put some bread on the big table, who should I encounter at the other end of the garden?

The currawong who viewed me with suspicion while I tried to explain that the bread was inconveniently at the other end of the garden, where I'd just put it... ha ha.

I went back to get a piece of bread for it, and of course when I got back to where we'd met it was gone...

The crash sound as it landed awkwardly on the big table was evidence enough that it'd been listening when I pointed out where the bread was, ha ha.

It's got a scar above one eye which I think might affect it's vision just a bit, leading to some awkward landings... but it doesn't stop it from picking out the fruit from the bread with pinpoint accuracy, ha ha.
