This is a thread with no particular
Topic so no one can be off topic 🙂
So if anyone out there has something
To say about anything you like now
Is your chance
Keep it clean
And be nice
See how long that lasts
Can we keep politics and religion out
Of the conversation

The old man bird died this evening, sitting up on his favourite bridge.
How do you eulogise a friend?
I knew the day would come, there was no surprise in that...
All we could do was enjoy those few days, weeks that were left.
So we did.
Goodbye old man, and thank you.
🙂

Thank you for sharing with us your journey with old man bird.
He was indeed fortunate to have crossed your path, as you were to have had him in your life and I am saddened to hear of his final flight.
Thank you ecar.

GOOOOOOOOD MORNING EVERYONE!
I haven't been around too much lately, but always stopped to read this wonderful thread; it's always so friendly and personable ...
I'm so very sorry that you have lost your old cockatoo ecar. I'm sure everyone here will feel that loss also, especially after all you have shared about his life with us xx
Meanwhile, life on the funny little island goes on as busy as ever, although it's all going fairly smoothly and getting done.
Next year I'll be writing another paper although I swore I wouldn't do that again ... It seems there is always something to learn and ascertain about life vs character, but at least I won't have to do course work, but research. The previous paper researched the very real dangers of internet abuse and some of it's horrific repercussions. I passed so I must have struck a chord/nerve with the examiners!
I think I will always want to be a student ....
So how is everyone doing? Looking like the flu/cold epidemic hit the planet hard this year ... .. here's hoping everyone has recovered?
Have a great week and weekend everyone, I'll try to get back more often.

His family came, in the morning, and we talked and sang of his passing...
They said that the sadness passes, over time -
Remember the good days, but don't forget to mourn, to grieve...
Wise advice...
Well, it is done... I have committed the body of my brother to the ground and commended him to his Ancestors.
I have sung to him and told him stories of the brief life we shared.
All that remains is to feel that slight hint of emptiness that will come in the afternoon, when he doesn't...
I keep remembering, then half forgetting...
Where the bird bath there's a series of bridges and rails so that they can access the bird bath...
Of course, because of the bridges, I can't get through there, but the birds can, and do, run through on the ground...
I have to go the long way round through the garden to get to the big table... They don't, ha ha...
I'm standing by the big table when the old man bird comes through, past the bird bath, stops at my feet and looks up expectantly...
I don't have "the right food" with me, as I explained to him...
I'd have to go back round to get it...
So he "followed" me... cockatoo style - about five steps ahead of me, stopping every so often to make sure I was keeping up... ha ha.
"Well, come on... Come on...Food!... Food!...!", ha ha.
He was like that... a voracious eating machine... and never afraid to drop hugely unsubtle hints that he wasn't getting anything to eat, and that didn't seem right, to him... ha ha.
It was maybe eight weeks, maybe ten.
A long time and a short time, but regardless, a good time...
🙂

Dear ecar, the world is more than a much better place with you in it. Mr. Tas and I are just so proud of you, and Mrs. ecar also. Your understanding and care of these living things around you is wonderful ...

Thank you all for your kindness, your kind thoughts...
Mother magpie appeared in the last ten minutes of the day and said "It's okay to smile, even if you feel sad".
She said "It doesn't make you a bad person to mourn your friend and still smile at people.
Sometimes that smile can be all they need - maybe they are in mourning, themselves...
Anyway, have you got something other than this bread...?", ha ha.
She's a practical girl, she brings good advice, and just tiny hint of self interest... ha ha.
