This is a thread with no particular
Topic so no one can be off topic 🙂
So if anyone out there has something
To say about anything you like now
Is your chance
Keep it clean
And be nice
See how long that lasts
Can we keep politics and religion out
Of the conversation

Is the Pope Argentinian? ha ha.
Dad was born in Poznan.
Unfortunately, I can't speak Polish, or read or write it, ha ha.
But you're more interested in how I know about the wafers... Ooh, spooky (Cue Twilight Zone music...ha ha).
No, nothing like that...
You mentioned Polish Christmas a few days back, and I remembered some obscure rellie from the Old Country sent some wafers, one Christmas.
It only stuck in my memory because Mum made such a fuss over them.
I think I was a bit young, at the time, to appreciate the difficulty in getting anything out of Communist controlled Poland...
"But why can't they just put it in the post and mark it Do Not Bend?"...
The fact that it escaped being "inspected" was a miracle in itself...
But that was another World, another time, another place...
Hopefully, now, we live in happier times.
I'm not sure that I trust these online translator programs, entirely, so hopefully this will make sense...
Zadowolenia z rodziny.

Happy with families?
You can get the wafers at Polish Catholic churches these days.
FIL was a city boy and was born in Warsaw.
But he did nick off to Russia as soon as the Germans marched in.
Many adventures during the war - most of them not good. Met some Aussies in France and decided here is where he wanted to be after the war.
He was extremely lucky there was an 'after the war' for him.
Dziękuję ci za bycie sobą
For any lurkers on this thread....I am not Polish.
But we have traditional Polish/German Christmas (FIL Polish, MIL German)

It should read - "Be fulfilled with your family"...
At least that's what the site says...
https://blogs.transparent.com/polish/how-to-say-merry-christmas-in-polish/
It seemed like a nice sentiment, too... ha ha.
I tend to forget that the online rule of "My opinion is as good as the truth, even if it doesn't some close to the truth" applies to all and everything, even "translations" of foreign languages, ha ha.
The internet, now 99.9%...
The other 0.1% is water.. ha ha.

I sat down out the front with a couple of corned beef sandwiches... and the baby magpie, for company...
She knows who I am, now, so she doesn't run away when she sees me... ha ha.
Except when she's got a good grip on a sandwich....
Then it's all strength and determination as she drags "her" sandwich away...
She didn't get far because Mother magpie came running over... "What have you got?: What have you got? Is it interesting?", ha ha.
So there goes half of lunch... ha ha.
Another view might be that I've had December 24th lunch with family... What would my forebears think? ha ha.
Somehow, I expect they would be happy for me.
My family are spread so far and wide, that a "get together" would be near impossible to arrange.
So I spend my time in the company of they who have become family...
It's not so bad an arrangement, ha ha.
"Can you make a corned beef sandwich without bread?" asked the baby magpie...
It's not even Christmas day and already she wants to open the presents... ha ha...

A great way the clean up floodwaters.
Although there could be a couple of downsides.
