This is a thread with no particular
Topic so no one can be off topic ๐
So if anyone out there has something
To say about anything you like now
Is your chance
Keep it clean
And be nice
See how long that lasts
Can we keep politics and religion out
Of the conversation

Thanks, Laney ๐
How can I tell that it's hot today?
I know I've probably said it before... ha ha... I don't need a thermometer, I've got a possum... ha ha.
One of the houses' doorway is at head height, so when I go past to check the water dish, I usually take a glance into the doorway...
Today, facing me, there's a fat little cream belly... a furry Buddha reclining in the cool semi darkness, her head tilted to one side, resting against the wall... ha ha.
The closer it gets to 30 degrees, the greater the likelihood of her being in the doorway... ha ha.
The house she's in has vents, chunky fixed louvered things set into the walls, most of which have been covered because, in the past, other possums thought it was "too airy", fussy little things, ha ha.
I've taken the panel off the vent at the far end of the house and at least in theory, air should flow through the house...
Well, if the wind ever bothered to pick up, we'd find out, ha ha.
Life with animals... the fun never stops, ha ha.

Today on "Which pair of galahs is that?"...
Couple number one...
"We like to sit in the tree and wait until you've gone away before we come down to feed...
It's because we're wild birds and don't feel comfortable around people...".
That seems fair enough, ha ha.
Couple number two...
"We get excited and dance around when we see you...
Sometimes we'll charge straight at you, enthusiastically...
We're the wild about you birds...", ha ha...
and Couple number three...
"As you can see, we have a baby...
He's the apple of our eyes...
Actually, rather than apple, can we have some more birdseed?
He's hungry all the time... ha ha...
He's our little bird and we love him...
We're the wild about our child birds...", ha ha.

From the pattern they've set, the parent galahs like to bring the little one in something after 5.30...
The old man bird has made a regular habit of turning up after 7.30, so when the galahs turn up late in the morning, and he turns up early in the afternoon, I found myself facing a quiet evening... if that's possible with cockatoos around... ha ha.
They have this amazing ability to completely forget, in the blink of an eye, that they're feeling hot and flustered if the opportunity to go and squabble with another bird comes along,,, ha ha.
One gets a piece of bread and another tries to take it from them...
Meanwhile, I'm holding up an identical piece of bread - "Second bird... would you like this one?".
"Yes, I would", says the bird... "Thank you, I'll be with you in a moment, I just have to continue trying to steal this bird's piece of bread...", ha ha.
At least it said thank you... ha ha.

One of the wattlebirds has just made an appearance, plucking little pieces of bread out of a bowl...
He knocks them sharply on the bench armrest, and in the process breaks off the small piece he wants, and sends the larger piece flying off into the garden...
There's bits of bread all over the place, but I won't worry... He'll find them later, ha ha.
I don't mind chopping up and throwing out some bread that's gone so hard you could use it re-sole a pair of work boots... he's already got it worked out - I'll be out there later on and there'll be three or four pieces of bread soaking in the birdbath, ha ha.
He's not silly... ha ha.
