So if anyone out there has something

To say about anything you like now

Is your chance

Keep it clean

And be nice

See how long that lasts

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

I've got one of those Zooper Dooper holders, Stawks...

I'm yet to get to the supermarket and get the ice blocks... empty shelf syndrome - all those early risers keep getting in ahead of me... ha ha.

The holders are just a little bit too large for a Bic lighter, but not to worry, I channelled my inner McGyver and wrapped the lighter in gaffer tape... now it fits, ha ha.

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

The curtain's been pulled back and that means the cockatoo can make his way along the perch and look through the window...

Obviously...

Following cockatoo logic, a window must be looked through...

For those of you familiar with the ABC TV kid's show Playschool, you can well imagine that "Which window shall we look through today?" can be a very exciting event, in this household... ha ha.

So, he looks through the window... but the window's open!

Where's the window?!

Slight recoil... tail flares slightly... crest goes up...

He leant forward towards the flyscreen, where the window should be, and hissed at it... ha  ha

It may take him a little time to get used to the strangeness of the window being "not where it should be"... open, but I'm sure he'll come around...

Y'see, with the window open, he can hear the TV, and that will change everything especially when "A certain show involving windows" is on... ha ha.

"Move the TV! Move the TV! I can't see the TV! ... Better still, let me inside!", ha  ha.

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

Many years back I gave the birds a couple of cut down corn cobs...

They looked at them and said "Yep, they're yellow", and ignored them, ha ha.

But the possums...they fell on them... ha ha...

The were the greatest thing known to possum kind... ha ha.

Over the years I became thoroughly tired of trying to cut corn cobs with a chef's knife, and keep various parts of my hands intact in the process... ha ha.

It's got an impressive blade on it, it wouldn't look out of place in a Hammer film, ha ha, but when it came to cutting corn cobs there were no corners to cut, ha ha.

Lacking a meat cleaver and large butcher's block, or perhaps a French Revolution era guillotine, I found the task somewhat difficult... in short, corn cobs are not the easiest things to cut... ha ha.

Don't even think about sawing through one, you can't begin to imagine the mess!

Although, in hindsight, using a power saw might have been a little over the top, ha ha...

So, in the end I took the easy way out and bought a can of "budget" creamed corn...

It looks like it's been through the blender, twice... and flows with much the same ease as 20W50 motor oil... well, not quite, but don't knock the can over once you've opened it... ha ha.

Your cleaning up options will be spending the next 25 minutes getting to work with a handful of paper towels or just letting the possum in... ha ha.

Sloppy, wet creamed corn, and don't they love it! ha ha.

Ecar, this Colonel Sanders look-alike gives a great tip for halving corn.

Not quite as good, on a sunny day, but I suppose it's better than nothing... ha ha.

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

I've had a look at the radar and the best on offer seems to be some light cloud and "maybe" drizzle, but not enough to get me dragging the indoor plants out for a free watering... ha ha.

The birds left a bit early and took their usual "evening chorus" with them...

Somewhere down the street, from the sound of it, there's some big trees, and no doubt a person who either loves cockatoos or is seriously regretting having bought their place... ha ha.

It could be worse... they could be flying foxes... ha ha.
