This is a thread with no particular
Topic so no one can be off topic ๐
So if anyone out there has something
To say about anything you like now
Is your chance
Keep it clean
And be nice
See how long that lasts
Can we keep politics and religion out

The old man bird who's prone to shyness and I are working on a better way of me putting food up on the bridge when he's there...
At the moment, if I'm standing under the bridge and I reach up to put food there, the first thing that he sees, looking over the false horizon of the edge of the bridge, is a not always easily identifiable thing... my hand, as it turns out, but at first glance, an unidentifiable thing...
The sudden appearance of "the thing" tends to cause him mild anxiety, and that's not good...
"It's as easy as...", ha ha, raising my hand away from the bridge, so that he can see it, and then moving towards the bridge.
No doubt telling him I'm going to put my hand up onto the bridge will help, too.
Getting into the habit of doing that, however... As I say, "As easy as" isn't always that easy... ha ha.
But don't go forming the impression that he's some kind of shrinking walflower, ha ha...
He was on the bridge, happily eating, when one of the younger birds came along and pushed him out of the way...
He walked away two steps and paused, then turned back and walked around behind the younger bird, who was busy eating...
He very deliberately brushed against the younger bird's tail, causing it to jump, and from there, fly off from the bridge...
He stopped in front of the food, looked at it, looked at me and said "Heh heh heh heh..."...
He's a wicked old thing, ha ha...
He carries scars from a past I'll never know about... that's okay, I make allowances as I can, for him, and life rolls along...

The old man bird's happier, today...
I've been making an effort to avoid giving him any sudden surprises, ha ha...
It's all a case of slow and steady wins the race, ha ha...
Of course, for him, he's the centre of attention in all this... how could he not be happy with that? ha ha...

Apple sauce, in a jar...
Well, possums, look at it this way - you got two good sized spoonfuls out of it...
I sat down in front of the TV with the jar and a spoon and I was only going to have a little bit... ha ha...
Anyway, according to the ingredients on the jar it's made from apples, sugar and glucose syrup...
I'm not sure that's entirely healthy for small hairy folk, so I think I did you a favour... ha ha...
I found a recipe for apple sauce - peel 'em, boil 'em, mush 'em...
That sounds a whole lot healthier, ha ha...
I wonder if I can do the same with bananas...? I wonder how bad boiled banana would smell... ha ha...
Maybe I should stick with the apples, ha ha...

The old man bird's reaction to breakfast, this morning, was priceless...
He stretched himself to his full height and raised his crest and his little eyes up...
He even did a little dance, he was so excited... ha ha...
It doesn't matter that it's exactly the same breakfast he's been getting for days, it's for Him... ha ha.
In fairness, the other old man bird who turns up in the afternoons is no better when it comes behaving, if not believing that the Universe is, really centred on him...
I hold the food box out to a randomly selected bird and they'll take a bite, maybe two bites if they feel particularly confident...
And then there's the old man bird...
"Oh good, you've brought my personal supply of food... What do you mean there are other birds who might, reasonably, want some of the food? It's Mine... My food!", ha ha...
I've noticed over the last couple of days that a youngish peewit has taken up residence.
He's hurt his foot... he keeps it curled under him as much of the time as he can...
Except for a few minutes this afternoon when he had a very enjoyable splash around in the shallow bird bath.
His foot still hurt but that wasn't going to stop him from having fun, ha ha...

Good morning to all .....
Another few minutes scrolling back to have a laugh at all the funny pictures and banter here ... ... what would we do without you ecar?
I'm so sorry to see that the old man cockatoo had gone .. it's sad, but in another way, he's had the best life especially around your kindness and sharing of it ecar, bless you.
It's been a couple of 'crazy' days what with a house full of energetic quilters all here to make, show and tell how to make window quilts. I had never really thought of that before and thought a window covering of that nature would not be a practical thing if it couldn't open or the outside view could not be accessed. How wrong I was!
They've thought of everything!
My smallish covering, of course, is the only one with northern hemisphere fauna etc >>> snow and deer; everyone else? >>> kangaroos, koalas, frilly necked lizards and wombats ... ... makes for great picture windows no matter where you are on the planet.
Have a great weekend ....

For reasons best known only to birds, they turned up at two, firmly convinced that it was four...
They blamed the fact that it was overcast... We can't tell the time by the Sun if it's obscured... ha ha...
And they brought friends...
A pair, each, of long beaked and and lesser corellas who amused themselves by making that curious honking noise that they make...
And two more old man birds... ha ha...
One not so shy, and one not so sure... ha ha...
Not so shy amused himself by foraging around the garden, and not so sure turned to comfort food, or food, for comfort, and ate like he hadn't eaten for a week, ha ha...
I think one of the reasons he left, finally, was that he couldn't find anything else to eat... had I given him more food I think he'd still be out there, in the dark, happily munching away... ha ha...
The circus bird greeted me at breakfast in his usual way - he jumped up onto the food box, ha ha...
It didn't matter that I had my hands full, and was trying to close the door behind me at the time, no... life is about the celebration of life and the best way to celebrate life is to cart a heavy bird around, awkwardly perched on the edge of a large plastic box...
Or at least that's what he says, ha ha...

Mind where you park...
And they reckon pigeons are bad... ha ha...

Drip... Drip... Drip... Drip...
It's time to change the tap washer!
I turned off the tap that supplies the house... There is one little thing to note, at this point - it doesn't turn the water off Completely...
There's a very slight trickle of pressure, but it's nothing to worry about...
Not yet... ha ha...
The tap body is fixed in place, so it's all down to remembering which way to turn the spanner to undo the spindle cylinder... ha ha.
Round and round we go, and out the cylinder comes...
It doesn't take an expert eye to see that the washer has been well and truly washed, so to speak... ha ha.
The next step is to replace the washer, and put the spindle back in place...
I held the spindle over the tap and the washer promptly fell out of the spindle and into the cavity, below... the body of the tap.
Remember I mentioned the gentle flow of water pressure?
It's just enough to tilt the washer on it's side, and my fingertips are too big to get it out when it's sitting at that awkward angle... ha ha.
So I wandered off to find a pair of needle nosed pliers... ha ha...
Having successfully retrieved the washer, the process repeated, with somewhat greater success... ha ha...
The spindle screws into the tap base, but not too tightly... as I have found...
If I tighten it too much, I can't turn the tap on... ha ha...
Which, admittedly, would save wear and tear on the washer, ha ha...
If you are going to try to work on a tap with the water pressure still on full, you might want to have a couple of towels handy...
Otherwise you'll find yourself looking like you were sitting in the front row seats at Seaworld... ha ha...
