This is a thread with no particular
Topic so no one can be off topic ๐
So if anyone out there has something
To say about anything you like now
Is your chance
Keep it clean
And be nice
See how long that lasts
Can we keep politics and religion out
Of the conversation

Household chores... You know they're getting to you when...

A large make possum wandered through, last night...
That's not unexpected, as a large female possum stayed over a couple of days ago, on her way through...
I expect at some point they'll catch up to each other and well.. Boy meets Girl... ha ha....
His lower third, standing on all fours, has a distinct yellow tinge to it; much like a water mark, almost as if he'd forded a moderately deep puddle...
They come in a fair range of colours, usually they're the uniform grey on top, and have a cream coloured belly, but every so often, especially with the males, they'll start to turn ginger - red haired, as they age...
His yellow tint is an usual pattern, so there's one for the books.
While the bigger birds wait patiently to see if I'll give in and reinstate breakfast to breakfast time, rather than putting it out later in the afternoon, the sparrows have decided to take advantage of the relative peace and quiet... by providing anything but peace and quiet, as only sparrows can, ha ha...
I know they're happy with the arrangement, they tell me at every given opportunity...
Noisy little tykes, they are, but they're company, none the less... ha ha...

I have to think that sometimes the World works in mysterious ways....
The price of petrol drops to below a dollar a litre, for the first time in longer than most of us can recall, and it happens while we're subject to the Coronavirus restriction - where you can, only drive the car if you Really need to...
Irony at it's finest, ha ha...
All fuelled dressed up with nowhere to go, ha ha...

I can tell it's Saturday night...
The fine line that separates the TV being more interesting to watch when it's switched off, than switched on has been passed, ha ha...
Okey dokey, a possum anecdote, to pass the time... ha ha...
To set the scene... This is a line drawing, looking from the top down onto the Toffee house, the possum house over on the other side of the garden...
On the left hand side is the entrance corridor, and the big space on the right hand side is the "bedroom".
A couple of days ago a wandering girl possum found herself in these parts, and in need of accommodation...
The Toffee house was there, and unoccupied, so she settled in for a sleep...
Part of Mother possum's "morning" routine is to have a quick look around, and that includes sticking her head into the Toffee house doorway, just in case there's a visitor who she can promptly chase away, ha ha...
Her not so little daughter, she's two thirds the size of her mum, now, insisted on tagging along...
The scene is set....
Mother has got to the house, and gone into the entrance corridor for a quick look, while her daughter, See (her full name is Calliope-Ann, but let''s face it, See is easier to type, ha ha), has stopped just outside the doorway, across the doorway...
Mother, having decided that all is well with the World, reverses out, because the corridor, wide as it is, is too narrow to do a 180 degree turn in, and she can't be bothered going all the way in, and turning around, to exit...
So, she bumps into See, and rather than try to push, and dislodge the obstacle in her path, she steps, awkwardly, backwards, over it... over her daughter... ha ha...
So I'm treated to the comical sight of See staying put while her mum clambers over her...
Why would I fork out for tickets to the circus when I've got all the clowning and contortionist act I could ever want, all here in my own back yard, ha ha...
Progress-wise, the new house is, as I am so fond of saying, "coming along, nicely", ha ha...
I got the roof in place, today, so now it's all down to sanding and varnishing, from here on...
Twenty minute's work, here and there, with a day's delay inbetween, while everything dries, before the next coat goes on...
I think I'll be hard pressed to have it up and running before Wednesday, when the rain comes next, but no worries, it hasn't exactly been a rushed job since I started it, ha ha...
And then what will I do? Once it's all said and done, and fastened into place, out in the garden, there's going to be a possum house sized empty space in the workshop...
I'll have to set to myself to a new project... Maybe something a little less ambitious, this time round, ha ha...

The blue wrens dropped by late in the afternoon, all four of them, being their cheeky, chirpy little selves, ha ha...
I haven't seen them for a couple of weeks.
I suppose, being tiny little birds and having a fair swathe of territory to cover, relatively speaking, they've got to organise their time wisely...
There's only so many gardens that they can visit in a day,.. ha ha...
It reminded me of one of those "From the Old Country" sayings...
Live your life as though tomorrow will be your last day, but procrastinate as though you will live for eternity... ha ha....
Speaking of procrastinating, I've been holding off gathering together the odd bits and pieces to put in the charity donation bin at the shops.
What with the bushfires, and then the Coronavirus, I expect the charities have found themselves somewhat stretched, one way or another.
I finally got my act into gear and loaded a couple of bags of donatables into the car, only to find when I got to the shops that the bins aren't there, anymore...
I can see I'll have to make a trip to the charity's shop, at some point, to drop some stuff off, and knowing me, I'll just have a quick browse while I'm there and I'll end up bringing home more than I took over to them, ha ha...

Here's a picture of a man holding some puppies, just so you can say "Awww!", ha ha..
Have a good one...

Ecar, I think all the charity shops are closed down.
They are here.

Good point, Stawks. I hadn't thought of that.
Damn this "Brave New World". I want the old one back, where social distancing wasn't a virtual life or death issue.
Okay, time for plan B.
The big plastic storage tub that's gathering dust in the garage will make a good starting point for my "Collection of Good Intentions", ha ha...
One of these days, when some semblance of normality has returned... ha ha... Yeah, I know, it might be wishful thinking...
Who knows what the future holds...
Well, there's always the option of a kerbside garage sale, I suppose... I might lighten the burden, so to speak, that way...
The old stove finally gave up the ghost so I invested in a induction cooktop.
It's a neat little thing, plug it in anywhere and off you go...
With the small exception that aluminium saucepans don't work on it.
So I've got a gaggle of pot and pans and no use for them...
Damn, I say, again, ha ha...
In the meantime I intend to make full use of the mobile cooktop...
What could be better than sitting on the couch, wrapped in a blanket on a cold Winter's day, watching TV, with the hotplate sitting on my lap, slowly heating a tin of baked beans?
The best thing is, I can eat straight from the saucepan - and it'll save on washing up! ha ha...
Good intentions, bad ideas, I have 'em all, ha ha...
