This is a thread with no particular
Topic so no one can be off topic 🙂
So if anyone out there has something
To say about anything you like now
Is your chance
Keep it clean
And be nice
See how long that lasts
Can we keep politics and religion out
Of the conversation

It's always amusing to see history repeating itself...

After the rains, last week, two of the old man cockatoos didn't come back.
I'd thought they'd last well into June, but obviously they had other ideas...
They died as they lived, free, wild, happy, and in the company of their family, rest them.
So now, for the time being, I'm down to one old man cockatoo for company in the afternoons, but he makes up for it by being a character in his own right, ha ha...
He likes to turn up late in the morning and find a sunny spot where he can sit, put his head over his shoulder and go to sleep, that is until I'm ready to pay attention to him... ha ha...
He's still a bit shy, at times so I have to tell him, and gesture that I'm going to walk around behind him, before I do, and even then he shuffles his feet nervously.
It's all softly, softly... Some of them shy away at the sight of me, and some of them would use me as a combined climbing frame and perch if I let them, ha ha...
They're all different, with different ways... There's times when I don't know if a bird's going to stand still, patiently, while I put some food down for it, or whether I'll run the risk of losing skin as they lunge, excitedly, at it... ha ha...
They're good value...

There was a dead branch from the gum tree next to the house that hung over the roof...
Was... I noticed this afternoon that enough of the end of it had been broken off that it no longer serves as a convenient bridge from house to the tree....
The possums and the birds will have to work things out, in their own unique ways, as to how to get around that, which I'm sure they will... ha ha...
The ladder's just a bit too short to reach, and any of the ideas I envisioned as a means of a solution to the problem would involve a fair amount of work on my part.
Somehow, constructing an arch, some twenty or more feet tall, then somehow managing to keep it stable and tethered, so that it would withstand the kind of traffic that I expect it would attract... It all became too complicated, too quickly, for me, so I shelved that idea, ha ha...
There's lending a helping hand and then there's taking on something that is only going to grow in magnitude, in terms of complication...
It was a great idea, as great ideas go, though - almost unworkable, but it made for a wonderfully vivid mental image, ha ha...

And just to show that the Internet hasn't lost it's touch when it comes to obscure humour...

I found a picture of a plan for a carved bear, a jig doll, a limberjack, Les gigueux... call them what you will... ha ha...
It led me to think that I've already got a small, carved, jointed limb wooden bear sitting in the workshop, in pieces, waiting to be stained and put together....
It's by no means as ornate as the plan above shows, but I think with a little ingenuity, something could come of it...
Now... Do I have some smallish wood screws with which to affix the limbs...?
Then, all I'd have to add is an eyebolt -
- with it screwed into the top of it's head, I could suspend it from a string...
Then I have a ready to go "Dancing Bear"...
Imagine the fun I could have with buskers, ha ha... They play, and the bear dances along...
The best thing about it is that it's pocket sized, to start with, so it's eminently portable, ha ha...
Something more to keep me amused...
A note, to myself, that I should endeavour to remember, for next years' diary....
Written in, somewhere near the middle of May, I think...
In big, bold letters - Socks...
Hopefully, that will remind me... and will reduce the possibility of my waking up, suddenly, as I did this morning, when my feet decided that it really was that cold, and cramped... I'd say ha ha, but it really wasn't a laughing matter at the time...
It's just another one of those reasons to "love" the onset of Winter, ha ha...
Keep well, and More importantly, stay warm, people...
