My doctor charges me something like $38 to go see her. I pay that and then get a part refund from medicare.

Im wondering if now all i will have to pay is $7.00 to go see her OR will my part refund just be $7.00 less than what it was before?

Ohh and so glad you are happy with the budget grizz. Lets hope you dont get mugged or robbed by some poor Aussie who chose to have kids, then lost their job, cant find another and cant get NewStart for 6 months so they have to turn to crime just to feed their family.

Daydream, if you go to a non bulk billing Dr, the only difference will be that the portion that you get back from medicare has been reduced.

Living on welfare is hardly an easy gig. Sure means test it, but cull the top not the bottom. Getting it reduced once you start living the high life when you start earning over $75 a week. Where's the insentive when you get a 50cent in the dollar cut at that threshold. So whats the governments response. Freeze the threshold, a reduction by stealth

Actually no I don't remember any of that because I grew up in an age where young people got married and kids and stayed together and raised them

Hey! what happened to the rest of my post? I took me ages to compose that and only top line came out!

Geez I hate when that happens! Smiley Mad

Re: this is a excellent budget

DDB you will pay $38 + $5  as Govt has reduced the Medicare benefit.. these changes start next year (July, I think).

The $7 payment is only charged Bulk Bill Clinics. (the extra $2 (above $5) is an incentive payment the Dr keeps)

No surprise at all from this PM.  He owns 4 women and thinks that makes him feminist. He does not know the meaning of the word.

Nope.

The issue is a women with a University Degree & a HELP Loan  who gets a job, in the future she could be out of the workforce for several years raising her children.

She will be earning no income, making no payments from her salary to reduce the loan and her total amount payable will rise rapidly  under the new changes, because of the interest rate being applied to it (6%) over those years.

My daughter had a baby last year in her final year for nursing. She went part time once hubs was born and is still part time. Will finish in November. She has a partner and gets little from the government. But she does have a HECS bill.

I think most would revert to part time in these instances.
