Forty four years ... I suppose there have been some good times, but I can't remember many of them ........

29th May 1971.

I remember it like it was yesterday. As I stood in the front of the CofE Church in St Marys, NSW, waiting for the bride to arrive. I looked around me for an escape route - there was a side door - I thought to myself "I could make that side door. Everyone would be angry with me for a while, but they would get over it .... shall I?   shall I? Bugga! Too late - here she is".

My fate was sealed.

NB I went back to that Church about 12 years ago and guess what? There was no side door and never has been one.

Re: wedding anniversary

CofE Church in St Marys,

That church is situated pretty close to heaven, Rabbits.

I lived at Werrington for a few years.  Attended the opening of Target St Marys.  Children went to St Mary's High.  I used to play squash   when Tommy Raudonikis(sp) ran the centre.  We used to train/run around there; and up and down Dunheved Railway steps -  accumulated a "glow" (because only horses sweat and men perspire).

Castlereagh Drags was a track   the guy with the HR panel van used to take me in my teens.  Good times.

A school pal and I worked there. She and I are still friends.

Lived at Castlereagh and then moved to the 'big smoke' (Kingswood) when dad got sick.

we both lived in St Marys - went to St Marys High. When we got married we lived in Adelaide for 18 months amd then back to St Marys - then after living in Bidwill for some years, we built a house in Kingswood, lived there for 18 years, My mum, dad and sister lived in Kingswood for 26 years. Mum died there and then we both sold our houses and moved to Qld.

Living at Castlereagh, I suppose you spent some time at the Drags? what about the river swimming (Yarramundi) - well until it got too poluted to swim in.?

edit: forgot, we also lived in Richmond for a while too.

Yes the drags and Yarramundi.

Not to mention Agnes Banks and Smoky Dawsons ranch

We also went swimming at the bottom of Devlin Lane across the rapids and then up the mountains on the other side along the Old Springwood Rd.

Before attending Castlereagh school (26kids) I went to Colyton primary.

When we moved to Kingswood in 1961 we lived in 2nd St, the name changed to Jones St.

I used to drag my HR sedan at Castlereagh. We were there the night Ash Marshall broke the 200 mph in the standing quarter. Of course they are much faster now, but that was a major milestone in those days. Actually I traded my HR for an HR panel van - painted it purple. Maybe we knew each other?
